Dear All,
I just wrote my interview experience and as I tried to submit it, it all disappeared. What a shame! So here we go again.
We finally had our interview in OH. Our interview was pretty early, so we went there early in the morning, and before too long, our name was called. I was waiting for the officer to take us into a room, but she said she would first talk to me first.
So we went into a seperate room and after taking the oath, she asked me to confirm my name and other details and then asked pretty standard questions like where and when did you meet your wife, how long did you date, etc. I had brought a whole (mini)suitcase full of documents with us, but after asking whether those were all joint documents for her, --and I said yes-- she said she didn't need to see any and that she had all the documents she needed in her folder that was sitting on the table before her. So I guess I had submitted all documents needed back when I was submitting my original I-485 application.
Then she took me to where my wife was waiting, I sat down and now it was her turn. As it turns out, she asked her pretty much the same questions and before too long, they were out.
I was expecting a positive outcome. The officer said she did not see any problems with my application. But she said she would make a final decision by the end of the day, having gone through our documents once more.
So I asked her whether she needed any extra documents, but she again said she did not need any. I asked her whether she would need to stamp my passport, but she said they do not stamp passports anymore. She said we would receive a document (we would learn the outcome) in 4-6 weeks in the mail. I didn't know what to think-- whether that meant we were almost approved or what. In the end, she kept my I-94 form, but she didn't even ask to see my EAD or Advance Parole.
So I'm wondering:
1) First of all, does this sound like a positive outcome to you? OR should I be worried? All in all, everything took only 15-20 minutes, no tricky questions and no documents asked except for my wife's birth certificate.
2) We have a joint sponsor since my wife does not meet the income requirement on her own. Could this be the reason why she wanted to review our documents once more after the interview?
3) She asked for when and where we got married. I wasn't expecting the time of marriage question (only the date), so I had to think a few seconds, but in the end came up with the right answer. My wife also gave the same answer, but when asked whether it took place on a weekday or weekend, she apparently said she could not recollect. Is this a problem?
4) How long would it take for me to see an online status change? Will it happen in the next few days, so she said she was going to make her decision yesterday? Or does it take longer for that to be registered in the system?
In the end, we have been married for almost two years and she said she didn't see any problems. But no official decision was given in the interview. what should I expect? Is this positive? Did anyone have a similar experience? I would really appreciate your comments.
