AOS how long?

Hi Everyone,

Recently I had my I-140 approved and now have to decide between AOS and CP. I was thus wondering how long AOS currently takes in California.

Thanks.

Go for CP!!!

unless you want to be creative in writing various johndoe\'s theories for several months(might be even years!! who knows) on different topics like
1. why receipt notices are getting delayed?
2. how FP\'s are issued?
3. New SYSTEM-3 (or even SYSTEM-4)
4. how to get hold of an IIO?
5. New type of AVM message and what it means?
6. What triggers an FE?
7. What triggers an interview?
8. How & when do they update the AVM? and the list goes on.......

All the best for your CP

It all depends on whether you are a nice guy :)

It can be as short as 2-3 months, or as long as 2 years.
If you are from India, taking CP will be a good choice.

Doesn\'t whether or not you can apply for CP depend on your I140 application?

Don\'t you indicate your choice AOS/CP on the I140 application?
If you put AOS on the I140 App, I guess you don\'t have a choice...you must go for AOS.
On the otherhand, if you put CP on the application, you can either go to CP or if you want, go to AOS also.

At least, that\'s my understanding. I might be wrong.

Also, how long AOS takes depends on where you stay (under which service center you fall)
If San Jose (like me)...well...GOOD LUCK!

Wudan, you are wrong, but it\'s OK since most of us Chinese petitioners don\'t take CP

You will make the AOP/CP decision after your I-140 got approved. You may be asked for this choice in I-140 stage. I think some lawyers do so just to make the next step quick.

Furthermore, a lot of factors affect the I-485 processing. They are a lot ...

Actually...

I am a Canadian and would do the CP in Montreal if I end up choosing that option.

Thanks for the responses everyone.
