First of all I want to thank you guys for answering my questions, and keeping this forum alive and full of info for people like me.
I am married to USC and have had an H-1B before filing my AOS.
Here is my dates:
11/20/03 Send package to Detroit office
11/26/03 Detroit office received my package, and sent me a receip letter
02/15/2004 Got Advance Parole (which I have not used yet)
Sometime in April had to go to Detroit to get Employment doc (was not that important for me, we both a selfemployed).
Aug, 2004 started to get worried because BCIS website showed that Detroit was processing cases filed in Dec 2003. At that time I did not get anything at all.
End of August contacted senator's Levin office, Mid September contacted congressmen Kildee's office. Both offices were very helpful, got back to me with the same answer: "you case is pending FBI name check since April of 2004"
Called Detroit office, same answer.
09/20/2004 Called BCIS customer service to complain why my case is not processed, even thoug they show Detroit was processing cases filed in Feb 2004.
They asked for my name and address and promissed to send me an explanation.
I started searching, and found some info on how to expedite FBI name checks.
I called FBI, they gave me an e-mail address fbinncp@ic.fbi.gov to submit request for info.
I also faxed them a request to expedite my name check.
10/13/2004 email and fax to FBI
10/14/2004 contacted congressmen Kildee's ofice and asked them to contact FBI about my name check.
I was told that FBI name check can take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months, or years, so as you can see I "bugged" some people, made some calls, and sent e-mails.
I do not know which one worked, or may be my turn just came by itself, but
on 10/23/04 I got my interview letter, and on 10/25/04 I got a fingerprinting appointment letter. Both scheduled for 11/04/2004. So I suggest you do the same.
I hope my interview will go okay.....
