AOS/AP And number of days out side US.

Does any one know of any limit on the number of days one can stay out of the US while on AOS and re-entering using AP?
apply the AP IN US and Before going out of US get AP in your hands and enter BEFORE AP expires ( better to enter 5-6 days advance of AP expiry, one person was struck out of US because of flight delay)

Our lawyer advised us to be on a safe side and make a legnth of one trip no longer then 6 months.

wrong info from lawyer with valid AP you can enter US (it has no 3 month or 6 month time limit)
ask your lawyer what is"safe side"??
