AOS and NVC confusion

My I140 was approved for AOS and I filed my I485 @NSC during 12/2000.
I had called my local senator to look into my case, since I have not
even received my FP\'s. I finally received my FP\'s last week. The senator
office called and told me that NSC is waiting for my I40 file from the
National Visa Center. I am confused. Does anyone know why my I140 was
sent to NVC in the first place.

All I140s are sent to NVC.

When your case is called for by the relevant service center , the file I140 will be transferred to the service center. In most cases this goes automatically without any external intervention.
Some by mistake are marked for CP and get stuck in NVC. Call NVC, find out whether the file is really in NVC (use all your receipt numbers - 140, 485 ) and if so request them to send it to the relevant service center - and say please.
