Hi gurus,
Some confusion. I have an H1-B pending, OPT STEM ext pending, the AO said, "We can't make a decision as you are in valid status; decision will be mailed to you in 2 weeks", while coming out of the door.

The above quote is verbatim. I know its confusing, but that's what the asylum officer said.

While in the corridor he said, "I am sorry about the questions I had to ask, that's procedure", that was said in a humble tone.

Then he asked me about weather...

What vibes should i get out of this?

They should grant you or issue NOID and mail it to your address. I believe that's what they do if you are in valid status.

I don't know if the law has changed, but when I applied for ayslum few years ago my lawyer told me that I only had one shot for this and there would be no appeal because I was on an H1-B status. I went back to the asylum office two weeks later to pick up the decision and received an approval letter that day. In short, the statement is a bit strange since you would not be able to appeal the decision so who else would make the decision if it is not them. I don't think you need to worry about. Waiting for two weeks for the decision is not unusual.

Cchong thanks for you input, I had the interview on the 16th of March and I still don't have a decision its the 5th of April. My lawyer says it can take 2 to 2 years for them to reply back. Why is that?
