Anyone written to USCIS for help with deadlines?

Hello
I am now nearly 2 months with no changes to my case. I got FP done on 11/14/06 and got the AOS interview date, but no word on my EAD. The 90th day since my application will be Jan 29, which would be my first day of work which I cannot do with my TN which is good until the 26th. As time goes on, I get more nervous about this.
Is there anything I can do before my 90 days is up to attempt to secure employment authorization? I saw on here once someone pasted a letter they wrote to USCIS asking for approval of their case by a certain date and they say (or think) it worked. If I attempt an infopass appt before 90 days are they just going to tell me off?
Also if I am approved by email by 90 days and the card has not arrived how can I work if they won't stamp your passport with an interim EAD anymore?

Wait till 29th....

Canuck,

Unfortunately, 90 days is fast approaching, but hope that it is approved before the end of January. I have seen some people whose cases where identical to yours, meaning that the 90 days were fast approaching, and their got their EAD approved just before the deadline of the 90th day.

Unfortunately, USCIS no longer offers temporary walk-in stamp for EAD. Why? Only the govt knows.... However, should 01/29 be here and you have not heard anything, then try to secure an info pass, which will likely be 2 weeks later, if you get one... : At times, getting an info pass is more like a tooth removal, very difficult in some DO. Also, you are in Richmond or Roanoke or Norfolk? VA has issues all over with their DO's

am I able to renew the TN while waiting?

Is it an option to attempt to renew the TN in the meantime? Or would this violate the whole "intent" thing?
Is there any harm in making an infopass in the meantime or would I just be wasting my time?

Schedule an InfoPass

I was in the same situation ... my H1B was expiring on 12/25 and until 12/13 (day 70), I had not heard anything about my EAD.

I scheduled an InfoPass and fortunately, for me, the officer was very helpful. They emailed the NBC and asked for expediting my EAD - the officer called me back the next day saying that the NBC told her that "they will pull out and process the case". A week later, my EAD was approved (Day 77).

You've got nothing to lose - so I would suggest scheduling an InfoPass for 2 weeks before your work authorization expires.

Good luck to you...

OK - I will call first

I will wait until the call center is open again tomorrow (presumably closed today) and if I "get no love" from them (I don't expect I will) I will schedule the infopass for the 10th or so. I had an infopass appt in June and the lady was very nice and straightforward but I've heard some will be jerks - I just am hoping to not get an angry lecture or even worse someone throw my case into chaos just because they had a bad morning.

OK that was really useful

I called. They won't tell me anything.
I tried to make an Infopass appointment. "None available".
I wrote an email to the "Feedback to USCIS" button. It was returned as undeliverable.
Fantastic. :(
I guess I will just try to make an Infopass appointment every day until one is available. Perhaps it's time to draft a letter......

What option did you use to try and schedule an InfoPass?

Don't use the one that says "my EAD has been pending for 90 days..."

Use "I wish to speak with an immigration officer" - see if that works.

Tried them all

None of them worked.

ALL of them say "At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later."

Sucks to be me. Jeez I wish I had filed a month earlier.

Write a letter...

Canuck, ;)

Shoot them a letter, get it out before the end of this week, send it to National Benefits Center and copy your DO... In that way, when you get an appointment, if ever becomes available, they would have also received your letter inquiring about why they aren't doing anything to get you an EAD.

Letters are very effective, they can't ignore them, they are required to respond to them with the most up-date information they have, even if it is the same info that you know.... :( Also, try making an info pass everyday, try early in the morning and late at night.... At some point, their system is suppose to give up and let have an appt.... :D

OK letter out and appointments suddenly available

Alright - I made letters asking as nicely as possible for my case to be completed by about day 83. Hopefully someone in a good mood opens it at either Missouri or Norfolk.
Oddly enough I managed to get an Infopass appt but not until Jan 18. I took it and will cancel it if the card shows up before then.
Here's hoping.....whoa this is intense and stressful as the date looms..... :(

I've written to USCIS's Newark DO's director about my case, since it's been more than 90 days since interview date, which according to some of the members here, is the fast approaching time. Hopefully I will get something back from them soon.

Write to the President....

AMG,

Basically, write them a letter every two weeks, harass them. If I were you, will write to the Decider, Mr President.. :p I have read some posts where someone was able to get their case moving by writing to Mrs. Laura Bush. Her office in turn forward the inquiry to USCIS, and notified her of this move and enclosed their correspondence to the USCIS in their response to her letter. So, I am not sure how effective these power players are, but maybe if you write to the President, copy your Director at DO, and the Director of USCIS, who knows.... maybe they will move their backside into action....

Correspondence send to the White House, is responded to at all times. It won't hurt if you tried it too.... In addition, the White House always forward those inquiries to the immigration officials, 99 out of 100. USCIS will quickly acknowledge receiving such a correspondence from the White House and get into action......

Al,

Thanks for the great advice, coming from you yet again. :D I will do so if I don't hear from the DO anytime soon.

Hilarious

The notion of writing directly to the President to plead my case is funny but you never know. :p
Here's hoping....

Funny, but could move your case.

Canuck,

If might be funny, but I have read cases where people pleaded their cases to his office, explaining their horrendous experiences, and believe it or not, their cases got moving due to the inquiry from the President or First Lady's office. However, I am not advocating flurry to letters to this President's Office, after all, he doesn't like to read...

Alternatively, you can write to the Vice President, complain to him how your immigration experience is worse, but not worse than the Democrats in power. :o So, next time when he goes hunting with the Director of USCIS, he will shoot him the face on your behalf...... :D After all, rumor has it that he shot Mr. Harry Whittington because he didn't contribute enough money to their 04 campaign, and Bush complained to him about it..... :D :D

Actually, there is a lady who actually scanned her response from Mrs. Bush and posted it online, to ward off skeptics who didn't believe her...

OK - Infopass this AM - zzzzzzz

I got an infopass before for the 18th, but have been checking a couple times a day to see if a newer one opened up. Yesterday PM I managed to get one for 8:30 this morning, so I cancelled the old one.

I suppose it was silly of me to assume that it meant my appointment might actually occur at around 8:30. I got there at 8:20 and finally at 8:55 someone came and turned the lights on behind the counter! Then they called someone else. At 9:10 a second person came out and called me. I explained my situation to her and she walked away for about 10 minutes. Then she came back and told me that I needed to have filed I-129 for a renewal of my TN  and I should not have filed the I-765. I told her that I was rather certain this was not the case, and reminded her that this was part of my adjustment of status application. She walked away again for 10 min. Then she came back and started typing.....typing.....typing....I'm serious she typed for 13 minutes I watched the clock. She was either typing out my life story or writing emails to friends. My legs are starting to hurt. She was probably wondering how much patience I had.
She finally told me (now it is nearly 9:45) that she sent an email explaining my situation and requested to expedite but of course, no promises. Finally, can I go now??? :(

I really hope that this accomplishes something :o . I have 16 days left on my TN.
