ANYONE WITH DO in CHARLOTTE, NC

Hi there,

There is plenty of space to park. They have a big parking lot, for free of course. The office is located off Tyvola Road at Tyvola Centre, just mapquest it.

Good luck!

Wow...

I have been busy for couple of days and wow... lots of things happend. I am so sorry pvky. Yes. I would go to interview unless you receive a hard copy! Neshawn, yes... there is a chance that we will be meeting on the interview site. Good luck to you all. I have been preparing all the documents so far but thinking how many photos should be prepared. We like to take photos of the scenery, not people...and we like to keep them in CD, not on hard copies. So, it is a bit of hassel to print them all out!! Other than that, I think we are prepared. So... in this forum, Neshawn and I are the first ones to interview! 12/7!

5 Minute Interview!!!!

Hello to all!!! :D

We were approved in 5 minutes today!!! However, the journey was unbelievable! I will post details tomorrow.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone on this forum who offered advice and shared their experiences. This forum keep me

I would like to share my interview experience with everyone.

We arrived 10 minutes before time. We had to go through the security gate. My wife went through ok, except they asked her to open her bag which had our paperwork, picture album and my wives potato chips and bottled water. They told my wife she could not take the food in My wife asked can they keep it till we come out (She loves her potato chips ) however, each time I tried the buzzer kept going off. I had to go through 4 times. I had to take off my watch, my belt, (I already placed my cell phone, keys on the table) I pulled up my pants) Finally, I was ok.
Amazing when we first walked in we saw another couple with a baby at the inner desk and a stern-looking lady standing on the other side. SHE WAS OUR INTERVIEW OFFICER!!! She took us to her office. She had the folder with our paperwork on her desk. She asked us both for our ID's. Ishowed her where they misspelled my name(again) on the Interview letter. She shook her head and then said she would use the spelling in front of her. Then she browsed through the paperwork. My wife said she flipped to the Affidavit of Support several times.(She could see the papers from where she was sitting) Then the IO asked us for the joint documents. We had lease agreement, bank statements and 2 bills. She noticed lease was just renewed, so my wife showed her her original lease(showing that she had lived there 2 years prior), also explaining why I wasn't added on when we first married. (my wife pointing out from the old lease the renewal times: I was explaining that the landlord okayed my moving in but did not rewrite old lease till old lease was to be renewed). Then she asked me the questions on the sheet. I answered the questions on the sheet in which I answered "NO" to all of them. She asked was I employed. I just starting working this week and had the employment letter (Although we had a sponsor). She then asked us who was _ _ _ _, I told her he was our sponsor. Then she asked wife, what were her childrens name and whether she was married before.(She wrote the childrens name on the paperwork. We didn't add them because they are adults not in the home, except the youngest one) My wife was a little nervous trying to give her the copies of all the information. I had to remind her, that everything was already in the paperwork. The IO asked for my EAD & pasport. She took the EAD and then she took out her RED stamp and stamped my passport and said I could travel using that while I wait for my Green Card. She explained the removal of condition process, had us sign the paper and then she escorted us out of the office. As we were walking down the hall, my wife whispered to me that she didn't even look at our pictures. I shook her hand and she smiled. My wife shook her hand and we then left. My wife went searching for her chips. She didn't find them :

The interview went smooth. The IO was small, but she didn't crack a smile until the end when we shook her hand. We were well prepared with original and copies of everything! But we also had sent every document they required. Getting all your paperwork in order is a must and will make the interview a lot easier (for most of us). I left out feeling so relieved, but while we were on our way home, I started thinking about everyone on this post and wished that many would not have to go through so much. It is heartbreaking. Even while we were there we met 2 other families outside. Each had small children. One family stated this was their 3rd time coming. The other with 2 small children said it finally went good for them.

The feeling I have is unbelievable. I finally slept last night a restful sleep. The journey has been hard but I have been made stronger and wiser for it. So for all the others out there, I wish you nothing but success and happiness. Hang in there and give it your best.

I am waiting to here from JUNG.

We DID go to our interview as scheduled and WE ARE SO GLAD we did. First let me explain the situation. In early November I get a letter regaridng the interview and it is scheduled for December 5. Of course having only about a month left, we start gathering supporting documents...About 2.5 weeks before the interview I get an e--mail (I signed up for the updates over the internet) that says that my interview was cancelled :(...I call 1-800 number right away, I heard before that such messages can be an error, so to confirm that it might have been an error, I call...Believe it or not the 1-800 person tells me that it was in fact cancelled and I should not go to the interview - as you can imagine I am devastated...in about a week I get another e-mail update telling me that my papers are in BSC and my interview is deshceduled....I cannot believe it!!!! Despite the fact that all possible sources tell us that it was cancelled, not willing to deal with the option of not showing up (just in case it was not cancelled), we make a decision that unless we get a paper notice of the canelation in the mail, we are still going to go. (about 6-7 hour drive from where we live now)....so we do that. ]

Now to the day of the interview...

We showed up about 30 minutes prior to the time indicated on the notice. The guard at the door, does not check our notice againts any hard copy list or computer, but lets us in and tells us to wait. We are very confused, since we assume that our interview was cancelled and since he did not check us in or anything, we are nerveous that we might have to wait the whole day until we find that out, however we do not say anything and decide to wait...The waiting room is about 1/3 full - some couples, some people dressed in uniform, some random (single people and families)...some have lawyers, some have kids, some have piles of supporting docs. We are waiting....When people who showed after us are being called, we decide that we are going to wait another 30 minutes and then try to see if we have been cancelled, we are pretty much sure at that point that we will have to leave with empty hands...

The next moment a lady walks in, and.....calls my name!!!! It was so unexpected!!! She tells us to follow her and takes us to her office. We say the oath and sit down. She starts through the routine questions and starts with the question of my date of birth --- which I do not understand (for whatever strange reason :) ) and ask her to repeat it. Then she pretty much just asked how we met (I was telling the story and kind of messed it up a little bit), then she asked why we lived separately (I was still in school and my wife had a job in DC), so we explained. Then she asked about our honeymoon and we showed the pictures. Then she asked about I-864 and why it was not notarized, I explained that we mailed it when they came up with the new form and the new guidance, which did not require notarization. She asked why we used the old form in that case...I had nothing to say besides "I am sorry...". She did something on her computer, which kind of made us nerveous for a bit, but....she was simply printing the new form, which she gave my wife to fill out. That was pretty much it, she stampped the forms with "approved" stamp and stampped my passport and said the card will be on its way in about a month. Then she explained about the conditions and such...and we were out in about 10 minutes :)

Thanks everybody for your help. Goodluck to those who are waiting. Please always go by the hardcopy notices, DO NOT take electronic messages seriously unless you get the same notice in the mail. WE did not and as you can see it was the right choice. I cannot imagine the array of problems we would have to deal with if we would have actually followed the e-mail and the "advise" of the 1-800 customer service....

Interviewed, too!

Hi, All...

Congratulations to pvky and neshawn. I did go to interview on 12/7. Everything went well, however, they needed another document. My hubby once married about 23 years ago and they needed to have the divorce decree. We didn't have it with us bcs it happened too long ago, didn't think we needed it. Anyway, came home and sent the doc on the very next day. They have received it yesterday. So, I am waiting for the final approval letter!

Thanks to you all. Good luck!

Congratz

Hi you guys,

Congratz to all of you! Esp. pkvby, I am so happy that you went to the interview and things went well - I knew it was better to go!!!!

I am still unpacking all my stuff after a week in San Francisco with my in-laws. It was so nice, I totally didn't think a second about the interview which will be exactly in 7 days. But we have all our documentation ready (piles, piles, piles, we kinda need a cart to carry that). ;)

@ Neshawn, more later, my red-eye-flight ended up to be late, descheduled, no sleep in 50 hours.... Need to sleep.

Need to set up Infopass

Pvky and others,

It has been almost 10 days since they received an additional document after the interview. I haven't received any message from them. There is no LuD. I would like to set up an infopass, however, the website says that I cannot make an appointment through infopass with the zipcode I entered. Did anyone set up an infopass before to talk to someone at Charlotte DO? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Hi. I am so sorry to hear about your situation. But I think you should not panic yet. It has been only 10 days (not too much for USCIS) and plus its holiday season, so I am sure things get slower. Infopass is a good idea, it is strange that it would not let you schedule one though. I think if you are entering the zip code correctly, it must be the system glitch (just like the e-mail messages people get)...I would say try again later and if you still have a problem try another zip code from NC (may be a major city like Raleigh or Charlotte) if that does not help call the 1-800 number and talk to someone, they might help. But all in all, I would suggest not to worry about it until early January. During the holidays things get slow and honestly this is probubly the most likely reason for your situation....good luck!

Hello Jung. I got an LUD date change for my I-130 & I-485 but no message change yet  I was also expecting my welcome notice but nothing yet. Maybe it won't be too long in coming  It is the holidays and I am afraid if they don't finish it before Christmas that we might not get anything until Jan.

Approved

Hi guys,

Our interview today was totally easy and painless. No hurdles. After 20 minutes we were done, I will post a complete review tomorrow! :)
I even already got the emails from CRIS that the I-130 is approved as well as the I-485 and that the welcome notice has been mailed.
We had a very pleasant experience and just came back from a nice dinner....

Good luck and thanks to all of you for the help and info-sharing! ;)
