Hello and congratulations to all who are selected!!
I know that there are dual opinions regarding high CN number and possibility of receiving interview and GreenCard.
So I thought to open this thread and ask You all very much, if anyone of you (or anyone you personally know) have ever been selected before, but never had even possibility of getting interview just because of high CN, please share your information and experience.

I've browsed every page of this forum for like 130 pages, and I didn't see a single post like that. I have however read of people whose case was stuck in "Administrative Processing" and who didn't get their visa due to that (deadline was reached before issuance).

You should just stay positive and forget about all that :). What's your CN?

I am from Russia and my CN is EU42XXX. I am trying to stay positive and hope that having CN gives the hope of getting GC. :)
Tew, do you have any idea why process should stuck in "Administrative Processing"? Could it be due to late date of sending documents to Kentucky?
If my case number is such high and probably my turn will come very very late next year. Do I still need to send papers as soon as possible, or for my case it's no difference when I send i.e now or next spring?

That is it! If we suppose that there are many people whose high case numbers never become current and they dont get interviews, where are all of these people?? That is strange.

Everyone has an equal chance so don't worry.

AP people normally get bumped out if the AP process crosses September 30th.

The last time there was a case-number cut out was DV-2008 where many high numbers didn't go through but that was a one-off.

Case No - DV2013AF0007XXXX (applied the first time and got it the first time - lucky me lol)
Entry Checked - 1st May 2012
Forms Sent To KCC - 10th May 2012
Received By KCC - 12th May 2012
Confirmation From KCC - 25th May 2012 after I sent them an email
2nd NL - Not Yet
Police Clearance - Not Yet
Medicals - Not Yet
Interviews - Hopefully in mid-August
Visa Pick up - Hopefully in mid-August
Port of Entry - New York JFK

My case number is high for my country too but I'm staying positive. Why worry about things we can't control you know?

Administrative Processing happens if they want to do some type of extensive background check after your interview. 99% of the posts I saw indicated it happened to people from specific countries. I saw Iran and Sudan as those who were frequently in that situation. I don't think it's something you need to worry about.

I would send in your forms ASAP. It won't make a difference if your number is called up during a regular cut-off, but it may make a big difference if your number is part of those who are just "Current". When the numbers are "Current" they don't go by case number, they pretty much do first come first served based on when your forms reached them. Again, this is just my understanding.

I totally agree with you Tew. We are in no control of this process so its a case of take it as it comes.

Administrative Processing is basically extra security checks or financial checks or other background checks. Some countries from the AF block and AS block go through this.

I'm pretty certain my forms were one of the first few thousand to get there because I sent them within a week of being notified so I hope July will become current for and in which case I'll have the interview in August.

I am also thinking of sending my documents ASAP, the only thing that is drawback to me is the fear of not getting tourist visas (or other non-immigrant visas) to USA later in case if I dont get GreenCard. Because I have heard that by my such action I show my intend of immigration, but tourist visas are non-immigratory and I often go to USA.

Guys, can you guide me with one thing..
When I applied for DV Lottery, I wasnt married, but few months ago I got married.
But the complicated part is that my wife has job offer from USA on J1 (non-immigration) visa.
Will it be better if I send my documents mentioning that I am married but dont send documents for my wife?
(Because if I send her information, we might have problems due to her non-immigration visa)
If I dont send her information to Kentucky, can she later after some years get GreenCard by me or for that I must send the documents as soon as possible too?
I know our case is very complicated :(

As far as i know, i ve never met a guy who hadnt his interview, all of them got their interview

u will have ur interview dont worry but u have to be sooooooooooooo patient

As far as i know, i ve never met a guy who hadnt his interview, all of them got their interview

Same to me, I did small research and yet didnt find anyone who didnt get interview or GreenCard just because of high CN. I have a friend from Armenia and he also told me that he didnt know anyone who didnt get interview due to high CN number.
But as in forum some people keep on saying that my chance is close to zero, thats why I wanted to gather some information from people's personal experience who had similar situation.

As far asI know and read on many forums, every selected CN will receive the interview but there is a trick: once selected you have to do your best to reply with the completed forms to KCC because interview dates are somehow related with the answers to KCC as well : they will speed up the interviews and cut-offs if selectees will be fast to answer with the completed forms.
Now, if you have your interview but end up in a AP thats a different kind of thing and that is NOT RELATED in any way with the CN, only with the result of the interview or future processing.
And I dont recall about an AP loosing the GC because of time delay. But there is a possibility to not get your visa/GC if the AP will not be solved until the deadline (but I have to be very clear AP HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIGH/LOW CASE NUMBERS)

Yes, I know someone who was in this situation. You need to search newsgroups back to 1999-2000, because since that time they had hidden number to eliminate this type of situation. Search for Olgda Barinov 1999 oor 2000, do not remember exactly. I had a long correspondence with her, I know her personally

From what I see here you guys are trying to approximate the situation when hidden humbers were used to the year when they are not used. You will have no luck finding those stories in the years when hidden numbers were used.
You have to look into prior lotteries, 1995-1999, you will find a lot of stories like that.

Raevsky, can you please make a prediction for Asia case number? I've totally understand what you are talking about and appreciate what you are doing to prevent people losing their nonimmigrant visa chances. My case number is AS19xxx. I will probably decide not to go with dv visa.

case number is AS19xxx.
I cannot. You are saying numbers for Asia end at about 10,000. I did not follow Asian stories, and I cannot estimate that 10000 limit, but that is very important to answer your question.
For June Asia has cutoff 8900.

This is printout for the tool for numbers right prior to the cutoff.

Of course, the tool does not show numbers beyond cutoff. I need to see numbers for Asia current to apply the tool and see where the maximum really is. Maybe that will happen for July. But my logic is simple.
If the max number in 2013 is about 10000 (probably true), and DOS is planning 20% increase (this number is overall; asia could be different; we will see when VB comes out in a few days), DOS is planning 20% elimination due to some new checks (like passport spelling or so). Then about 12000 will be the border in DV-2014.

I know our case is very complicated :(

Please send those forms indicating that you are married now, there is no way it will affect your wives non immigrant visa if she meets the requirements for that job offer and its open for her it wont at all affect her. When are you likely to go for your interview is it before she gets the job offer?

If your intuition is really telling you not to include her then you wont even put her name in those forms. You are not supposed to send any documents to KCC as of now only 2 photos and the DSP122 and DS230 forms. If you will be lucky and get that visa then you will work for her to join you or get married again in the US if she at the same time got that job offer and live happily there after.

Please stop telling that sending forms will not affect nonimmigrant visas or such prospects.

To answer the original question of the thread, I do know a recent case where they did not have a chance to get an interview. As to why you cannot find such people on forums, they would not be too eager to tell their misfortune for your benefit.

Thanks for your point
I understand you very well that if he includes his wife she may denied the non visa due to the intent they have shown of immigrating.

Aos it all depend on when the wife is going for interview? The guy says the wife has just received a job offer which probably wont take 3 months from now unless it also takes as long as the DV and this man may go for his interview next year depending on his case number, it is him to see when he should submit the forms either early or late after the wife has done her interview otherwise i gave him option number two.

NOT to include his wife in the forms at all because he initially said he just want to say in the forms that he is married but not give her documents which is impossible.

What comes first and how fast this should be the things he will look at.
