I-797 is the approval notice and you need that for passport stamping.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. Actually what I mean is the H-1B approval notice I797A. Do you anyone was asked for I797A by officer during PP stamping?

Thanks a lot

Wait wait....which 797 form are you talking about?

1. I-797A is your H1B approval notice - you do not need this.
2. I-797C is your 485 approval notice - you absolutely need this.

Now I am crystal clear, I am talking about I-797A H1B approval notice. Seems like I do not need I797A for PP stamping, correct?

Thanks a lot,

Correct. They "should" not ask for the h1b approval notice.
I have never heard of a situation where they have asked for h1b approval notice (others can correct me here). Having said that, if you have it or if it is easy for you to get it, then I would suggest taking it just in case they do ask. If not, then go ahead and go for the stamping without it. Dont bring it up at stamping and most likely they wont ask for it.

Again, this is just my opinion based on what I have seen and heard....you should ask your lawyer.
