Depends what time you call. I was put on hold for 50 minutes around 12:00 but got through within 5 minutes around 4PM EST.
I couldn't ask about any internal deadline that is be bing reported by others in the forum:

He was eager to end the call before I could ask too many questions. When I asked him about my FP, he said he can refresh them without taking a new appointment which I wasn't sure what it meant. Does it mean that he is going to request a new FP check.

I have tried calling NSC twice today and gave up every time after waiting on the line for 30 minutes
I called today. The person who pickup the call was not .........
Pickup the phone and Said......USCIS what is the purpose of your call.
I said: I would like to check Status of my Application.
He gave me 800 number to call (same number where you will get same status which is on website from last 2 years)
Then he thank me for calling USCIS.

I think they start storing FPs sometime aroun mid-2006, and now they simply re-run stored prints every 15 months instead of asking you to come for FP appointment each time.
That's news to me!
I should be able to confirm that by calling the FBI phone number 304-625-5590 if in fact by refresh he meant running another check.

Then I told her that my congressman had forwarded an email from CIS saying that my app was assigned to an officer. Suddenly her story changed and yes, they had picked up my application and it was assigned to an officer. The IO seemed rather annoyed by my call so I didn't push it but CIS email to the congressman stated that the app was assigned to an offcier for review on 1/28/08 so before the memo .... that should mean my name check has cleared right ? Well I am utterly confused now as to what the truth is

If u remember my posting about going through AILA liason and all. I was informed through them that my application has now been assigned to an officer, and RFE was generated three weeks after that. Keep your fingers crossed. Most probably you are out of the NC mess, even though with these people you never know. I just noticed that because of dealing with lawyers giving ambigious statements for so many years, I am saying contradictory things and still trying to sound rational.

I called NSC today 12:00 PST and 3:00 EST. Really had a good experience. First the call was answered in 2 mins and then a very nice lady took a detailed look at my case. She said that my file has not been assigned to an IO yet but it is in the process to be assigned. She told me to check periodically and call back in 30 days if I don't hear back from NSC. Things are definitely moving for folks who have been stuck in NC for ever

As per the new rule I am eliglible to be approved.As per the new rule they are going to find the lot of eligible candidates so she is not sure about the time frame when my case will get approved.
It's a waiting game again

Apparently NSC is processing cases from 2002 and it may be couple of months before mine is processed. When asked when can I expect any progress on my case, she gave me the standard line of checking back in 30 to 60 days. My case wasn't assigned to an officer. In one call, was told my case is under "extended review" and on the same day in the second call was told that security checks are pending.
I have tried calling NSC twice today and gave up every time after waiting on the line for 30 minutes
I just talk to a Very Nice Lady...........She told me that my case is assign to an officer today. (TODAY)
Online status still shows LUD 9/26/06

I've been on hold since 2:15EST, still on going.
Also earlier today I scheduled a service request, but I do want to get an infopass too. Anybody knows what do I need to choose on the infopass page that asks the kind of appointment? The last one is "case services follow-up appointment" which requires 45 days since a service request filed. And that is not exactly my case. What did you guys do to get an infopass?

Why did you want to open SR? Was it for FP?
Also how did the March 10 date come about? did he throw that in there himself or you asked specifically about the effect of Feb. 04 memo.
Little confused about InfoPass recommendation, when I took InfoPass after the memo was just released and when I asked about expediting or requesting FP request, I was told that since the case was pending with NSC, I should talk to them and send them even a latter asking to adjudicate my I-485.

I wanted to open SR just for them to move my app from the dust collecting bin and look at it, see that it meets the memo guideline and give it to some officer. The guy was also going to put in that it would be good to adjudicate my file before my visa expires in a couple months so that I can save the expenses to renew it ...
Then he threw in the march 10 date in the conversation. I think that they are going through the files right now and plan on getting it done by march 10th which is exactly 5 calendar weeks from the feb 4th.
He suggested Infopass because the system wouldn't let him put in the SR. So to help my case get a little more attention he said talking to "them" directly would be better. As we all know the guys on the phone aren't really knowledgeable ....

I just spoke with NSC rep and looks like there is no use of having old priority date.If you are eligible(Name check rule) according to new rule then they are going to consider the RD to approve the case not the PD.

This is where the March 10th deadline comes from (Q6). They say the majority which will be what 80% by mid march, and then 1% not to exceed 33 months like the name check ???? I have already made my Infopass appointment anyway.
