Got my approval email/case status changed online, waiting for paper notice to do stamping at San Francisco. Has anyone who stamped at SF received their card in 2 months or less? I am traveling in mid September and wonder if there is any chance I will be doing so with my card, or just with my 551 stamp...

In Plastic Card Tracker thread I have seen couple of guys who got within 4-6 weeks timeframe. My wife waiting for more than 6 weeks after stamping (stamped on 06/01/04).

Stamp on the passport is more than enough to travel and come back. don't have to wait for the cards.

Just got my passport stamped today... surprised it doesn't even mention the country name, USA on it! Hope no one gives me trouble when I travel in September. Well, I still have my AP and BCIS just approved another AP today, so I should be ok with a backup.

USCIS has your passport informaton already in their database. Having stamp on passport is just a formality.

After passport stamping your AP is not valid anymore. Therefore, AP is pretty much useless as backup (what is "backup" anyway).

I know I won't have problems in the US, but try convincing Joe Blow in the Madagascar airport (just an example) what the stamp means...... I think I'll just show him my AP

Yeah, that is my concern. The 551 stamp looks pretty amateurish, and while I am sure the inspectors at the POE know what to look for, it is overseas airline staff that I am concerned about. Even the United Airlines ticket agent in Seoul wasn't sure what an "Advance Parole" document was and needed to huddle with superiors.

If the USCIS are going to make these folks the 'front line' in immigration policing, then they should make the airlines train them better. My .02c worth!

Congratulations!! Good luck with your stamping and physical card.

Thanks - I think you should be close too... you are 02 258 if I remember?

That's always a problem when it comes anything except visa stamp on passport. I have seen some airlines people having hard time to understand why I did not have visa stamp and instead I had piece of paper that is supposed to let me in USA. Yes, the passport stamp is not pretty looking. But it's clear enough to mention that you are a PR. I travelled with that stamp twice - once transit at Franfurt and another time at Taipei without any problem.
