Hi everybody,

My parents are at the stage where they need to go to the Montreal Consulate for the interview which is either 3 to 7 mos. away depending on who you talk to. Since I know there are some very knowledgeable people here I thought I'd ask a few questions about the interview for parents. Both my parents speak English so I guess they're expected to answer all the questions but they also getting up there in age so what kinds of questions do they ask parents? With respect to not having birth certificates, my brother (the sponsor) swore out an affidavit since they were both born in Hyderabad before the Police action, do the examiners treat applicants differently or what? Does anybody know the names of panel doctors in Canada since they won't accept medicals done by civil surgeons from the U.S.? Is there any parking near the consulate? Any help or ideas anybody would be greatly appreciated.

I went through the Montreal consulate for my K-1 visa in 2002. I got my medical done in Toronto. I used MDS Executive Health Services.

If I may bother you again, how long did the medical take and what was the fee? What kinds of questions did they ask you at Montreal and did you drive or fly in? My parents are elderly, so I need to know these things

The medical cost CD $225. It was not covered by OHIP. The medical took about 2 hours in total. I used to live in Toronto then, so I just drove to Montreal. Stayed in a hotel just opposite the US consulate.
The K-1 interview was a breeze. Three or four questions in total.

Just one or two more quick questions, am I correct in assuming that the questions were pretty much the same questions that everyone else was asked such as Communist y/n, arrested y/n, etc. My parents don't have birth certificates, is that a huge problem? Thanks for your help so far, I phoned the guys at MDS and they seemed genuinely helpful. The price is $191 tax included but I think they moved to Yonge and St. Clair from University Avenue if anyone is interested in contacting them their number is 416-364-3008.
Thanks again and I'll let you know what happens.
