My case was transferred on June 3rd, appointment was at 1:30 PM on November 8th. Officer called us (my wife, lawyer and me) inside around 2:00 PM, took our signatures & fingerprints.

She had a trainee with her, so she was explaining each and every step to her. After administering the oath, the officer asked a lot of questions about our marriage, my schooling and job. She requested the new employment letter (I had changed jobs), 2 copies of W-2s and tax returns, marriage certificate, child's birth certificate, mortgage statement, passports, advance parole documents, all EADs, social security cards, marriage pictures & driver's license. Since she was training at the same time, she asked us a lot of questions about our marriage and was writing down all the answers on the forms (I think she was training for family based interviews). She also asked us all the routine security questions.

After about 25 to 30 minutes, she approved our 485s and stamped our passports and said we will receive the cards in 4 to 6 months time, but we can travel with the stamping. We received our cards within 4 weeks.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Is there any pattern in the interview requirement?

Thanks to both of u guys. I am just wondering is there any pattern in
the requirements for the interview? Like, the info they ask to bring for
the interview, does it remain the same for all?

Hi SriSaiRam, can you please provide the details of what was required
for the interview? Thanks for your help.

Still waiting for the interview letter

Our case transferred from texas NSA to Dallas local office on October 14th, 2004 and we are still waiting for the interview letter. Did anyone know how long it is taking for calling the interview. Looks like there is no pattern and please update if they follow any rules/methods for calling the interview. Thanks a lot for all the information you guys are providing.

I spoke to my lawyer few weeks and he tells me that normal
duration of getting interview notice is six months. Don't ask me
how he came up with that number :-)

(From what I am seeing in this forum, looks like six months is an average
wait time.)

He also suggested two things.

One: Go take an infopass appointment - 4/6 six weeks after the transfer to local office - and talk to an officer about the case, if they received it and/or they scheduled an interview etc. He even suggested to take infopass appt every month until you hear an affirmative answer from an officer. In fact, someone in this form suggested that too.

Two: Lawyers can send queries to CIS through AILA. My lawyer told me
that he would do that for me during mid-February '05. Well, he offered
me this help after me telling him that I would want him to be with me
for the interview :-)

One more interesting thing my lawyer told me: The officers that conduct
employment based interviews are actually trained for family based immigration. So, he was wondering how accurate the officers would/could be!

In any case, please don't consider these as an expert advise and always
consult a competetive lawyer.

Good luck.

out of jursidiction

Hello All,
My case has been transferred to Dallas,TX from Texas INS center on
06/21/04. My interview has been scheduled on 1/25/05.I am also taking my
lawyer with me to interview. Here is the problem.

My I-485 receipt date is March,2002.I worked in dallas for more than five years and I applied the green card there.I used AC21 to change the job and we moved to North carolina two years back.My case has been transferred to
Dallas ,TX since I have my lawyer dallas address on the I-485 applications.
I never informed to INS about my job change.

Now the interview has been scheduled and now my lawyer is saying
Dallas District office might transfer my case again to Charlotte since I live and work in North Carolina and I have very slim chance to get the case approved in dallas district office. He is saying dallas district office don't have the jursidiction on my case and charlotte has the jursidiction. He is suggesting me send the INS request to transfer my case to charlotte.

Do you guys think I have the jursidiction problem..

Any opinions. Please suggest..

I-485 RD ..(Mar'2002)..(I know it has been long time since I applied But I am one of those unlucky people)
