Any way to get out of this Name Check Hell?!!!

Hi gurus,

Is there any way to get out of this hell called "Name Check". I am at a point where I am really pissed off at the whole process. I am told once that they received all the information they need, at some other time they say it is still waiting for FBI name check....dont know what the hell is going on....

Some questions: -

- Is there any way to contact FBI? I know they used to reply to emails but have stopped now. There also was a number that you could call..but no one picks up anymore. Is there any other way to get any information?

- Can AILA help? Can my lawyer do anything to expedite this process? Senator and Congressmen have a phone line into FBI to check on the name check results. Is this true? Does AILA have the same thing?

- Has anyone tried the "Writ of Mandamus"? How does it work? Has anyone successfully used it? What was the result? Any pre-requisites to file this?

- Is there anything my lawyer (if the lawyer really wanted to help me) can do to expedite things?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Poor brother:

Only way is to wait for patiently. They just finished around Nov. 2004. We are all waiting for the result of name check. Relax!!

Dear Poor Bro.

i did all my best to find out, all in vain. After you are hit( belong to less than 1% group), you only can wait. you can only see till what year they are cleaning. 99% applicants could get cleared within 6 months. it is like lottery. if you are not lucky, your last name could make you to wait for 3 or 4 years.

gold less us, poor souls, may all poor souls have a good sleep every night.

Check citizenship forum. There is a thread (sticky) created by RahulKumar (moderator) who successfully cleared name check after trying all possible steps available in this world. He has shared his experiences during this difficult journey.

Probably you might have tried these things, if not, you may consider.

Hi Cody2, how do you know that the FBI has cleared the Name Check list till Nov 2004??

Dear Vicky:

From my poor friends around me, some of my poor souls who were stuck around Nov.2004 got cleared, also, I read this forum of all kinds, those got approval recently around Nov.2004. At the same time, my laywer told me so.
 
One thing I don't understand about this Name Check black hole is:

if you call USCIS, then they will tell you name check and Birthday
check are processed together, so what is the possibility that 2 ppl
have the same name and same birthday???

Almost impossible!!!

So why is this name check hole so difficult???
It should be as fast as finger print check.

hate to tell ya. i am from 2003. still not cleared... there are a whole bunch people pending from 2003. some even from 2002.

I was sucked from May, 05, so I have long years to wait. Maybe they are also watching our activities in USA?
 
My name check was sent in March 2004. I placed enquiry with congressman in Jan 2006. Not sure, if it was them, but my approval letter just came in yesterday. I'm approved after a long wait....... So, there is hope down the line.

Might seem dumb question....
But how do you know when you get stuck in namecheck?
Does the online message for your case get changed to Namecheck pending?
 
You know when you are stuck in namecheck when you do a status enquiry with USCIS and get a letter saying, "your case is pending security background checks....."

your case's approval showed my laywer's thoughts that they are cleaning 2004's cases. For me, 2005, still need a good sleep.
 
ANy luck with any Senators from MA

Has anyone had any good luck with any Senator from MA (Kennedy or Kerry)? any good experience with a Congressman's office?

I want to try go this route now...please let me know if you had any good experiences and if anything worked.
