I'm stuck in purgatory going on 6 mo's of waiting for OATH in CHill NJ.
Attorney says INS refused to check file for status update when he went to ask in person. However, i dont trust my attorney who may've forged a G28 [w/ my signature that is]; lied to me for months saying that he was getting me in for the oath next fri but i just had to send another cheque ... Now he says there's nothing he can do only congressman can help. At one point I even asked him to withdraw G28 when it became clear that he was an extortionist - he didn't but he did become response.

He also advised me against sending in an address change saying it would cause a delay & notice gets forwarded anyway [I thought INS mail doesnt get fwded] - well I've no way of knowing the truth ...

But seems safe to assume that till last week he hadn't even spoken to the INS & was simply trying to milk me for the $'s.

emote, I understand your plight. But do you really understand what's causing the delays?

Here is some bare facts... No attorney could guarantee a specific date (or even period) for oath. If your attorney is promising to get you into oath cermony within certain period, he might be misleading (very much like JoeF's misleading posts, though in JoeF's defense, he is computer programmer and not attorney).

If you have been waiting for 6 months after interview, that is not abnormal. I know many others who waited 6 months and higher for oath.

Did you know that you could yourself find out the status of your case? Walk into the local office that you interviewed at, and ask them for status. They will tell you the status, and may also give you more information on what is holding it up.

You could always contact your local Congressman / Congresswoman for help. They are usually very helpful in checking status.

Take it with a cool head, and don't go around suing or complaining about your attorney, unless you get the facts on your side. That is also saying, don't listen to blabbering jokers like JoeF, since he is just an indian computer programmer and he will put you into legal imbroglio with his crass advices.

Read my post again, try to understand that while some attorneys are scum bags, not all are.

Cheers!
