Any predication for near future I485?

VSC moves very well over the last few months. But historically, a short period of rapid moves is usally followed by
a long time slowness, even stoppage. For example, VSC processed I140 fairly fast(with 1-2 month) before September
2000 and after that, there were about 9 months freezing.

Given the fact that (1) All EB are current for a while. (2) a flood of 245(i) filers and INS will take care of that soon,
Will I485 turn very ugly in the near future?

Any folk has any analysis?

I hope this will not happen.

No Title

I would say it will get much faster in the near future. Just look at the I140 approvals since Oct 2000 at VSC. Not many, right? As there are not many people eligible to file 485 since Oct 2000 or the 485 filing in VSC slowed in the last 10 months, makes me to predict that once VSC starts processing 01 cases, it will move pretty faster.

I am guessing, the 485 processing in VSC will finish up in 9-12 months range in the near future.

However, you have to consider 245(i) factor

there are a lot 245(i) filings, VSC might move human resources to
deal with these filings, most are family based I-130 but filed with
VSC.

What\'s with this CIA rumor

There are reports, and messages on this board, that suggest that VSC has just in recent days reinstituted the CIA check as a precondition to approval. See www.immigration-law.com. This may significantly slow down or stop processing altogether (as happened in the late nineties when processing stopped completely for a year). Who knows. I sincerely hope that this is a false alarm, but I am not optimistic. It does seem sometimes that there is an element of malice in INS administrative decisions. The big companies are the ones who drive politics here, and maybe they would prefer cheap captive workers rather than free agents a while longer, especially in this economic climate. God forbid they should be forced to treat us with dignity and respect!
Needed to blow off some steam.

My thoughts on near future I485 processing.

Because VSC froze I-140 processing from end of 2000, and started to process I-140 again from Apr. 2000 , so few people filed EB I-485 in this period(Jan. 2000- Apr. 2000). Now VCS begin to process Oct. 2000 485 cases, once they finish 2000 cases and continue to touch 2001 485 cases, I think it will be fast for them to begin Apr/2001 cases. Of course now tons of 245(i) cases(mostly I130) sit there, if they begin to handle those cases, many resource will be allocated, then nobody knows what will happen to i485/i140 cases. I filed i485 in july/2001, just hope will not be caught by the dealy nightmare.

hollowman isme, are there any typos in your post?

would it be April 2001 and ( Jan.2001 - April 2001) ?

I guess they can not let 245(i) sit there forever.
Employment-based immigration is really testing our luck, you know, some people just got though their every stage luckily because when
they filed for that stage is exactly good timing when the responsible
agencys( Labor or INS ) are doing that stage in fast pace, so they
got there GC in light speed. while other unlucky guys have to go through every stage when the responsible agency is doing that stage
in snail pace.
