"Any other names used" question

Hello,

I have been a reader of this forum & immensely benifited from it.
I didn't include my old name which I had before marriage (which was in other country & 20 years ago) under ""Any other names used" question on N400 application. When I called the USCIS rep, she said it is not required as it was 20 years before. Subsequently, during the Interview also I didn't mention it. Now I am awaiting oath letter & worried if it would be a problem ever in future & seek your valuable inputs/comments .

I think that question refers to any current (in statutory period) alternate names used. An alternate name used 20 years ago that hasn't been used since shouldn't be an issue, unless you committed a crime under that name that would make you inadmissible for naturalization (ie. murder).

Thanks for the reply. Of course there is no criminal or any bad stuff I comitted in the old name. Yesterday, I was digging through the documents & found that: I needed to produce a birth certificate for I485(6 years ago). Since my birth cert didn't indicate the name, I needed to get an affidivit from parents, which of course shows the old name . Now the concern is , if this will cause any problems.
