Any news on how much backlog on receipts for I 485

According to my lawyer my application ( I 485 )was mailed to INS at about Aug 25 2000. Haven\'t received any notice/receipt from INS.
Is there anybody on this list facing same problem? Or anybody who has received a receipt letter ( filled during or after Aug 25 2000 ).

my attorney told me when ins cashed checks its the same like receipt notice because they write EAC number on the back of the checks

Did you receive a Notice from INS after you mailed in the Application?
If so when was that?

I guess after Sept 11.. Things have slowed down.
Atleast I am hoping that is the reason or else ... I am in big trouble...
