I applied on April 25 and My current one expires on September 19th. I am hoping I get it on September 20th so I do not have to send the OLD RTD..What a pain!

Website inaccuracies

The timeline for current processing on the USCIS website is heavily inaccurate.
According to that calendar, on august 8th, (when it was updated) they were working on March 14th applications for RTD. But guess what ?? I got an email on August 11 saying that my document was mailed on August 10th !
My receipt date is MArch 30th 2005
Also I noticed that around July 28th they asked for RFI from one member, I think it was WINDYWD whose receipt date was MARCH 18/19 or so.
Conclusion, they were working on march 18 cases on July 28 contrary to what the website said at the time.
Like someone said ealier, USCIS works in mysterious ways. I did not include a photo ID on my application but it was approved. WINDYWYD was asked to provide one.

I hope this helps

Samol,

After she applied online, what she sent to them and when?
After filling the forms online and making the payment there is a page (receipt) they ask you to print out and include that with the supporting docs ...she send them photos, old RTD (after making copies of all pages) and a copy of approval letter...within a week

Well, I applied online too... but they told me to wait

Until they tell me to send Supporting Documents. I had that question and called tyhe 800 number.
She told me that the letter I received was only the receipt notice ( and it was) and it clearly states that I shoudl wait until the request additional evidence.
I have a question:

Has anybody been aproved without sending aanything besides the aplication itself, especially when you E-File?

Thx,

My sister applied online and got it faster than others last year. She got the LIN# and then sent in her pictures, asylum approval letter, copy of Drivers license and copy of the receiptt letter(from filing online) on top of her response....

And you should know that what the USCIS ppl tell you is what is generic..Do not listen to them. If they had their way NO ONE WOULD CALL THEM....

My RD February 28, 2005
Application approved July 6, 2005

I remember someone posted that USCIS had promised to reduce the backlog for RTD to 3 months by September 30, 2005.Looks like they lied.

Minsk, I am always saying that USCIS wont reduce the backlog for us asylees. And lots of ppl say "where does it say that?"...Well we are the minority..the more asylees get the GCs, they become in "them" category..as in "them" who have the green card...We are the minority and I can bet that our wait time for RTD to Work Permit to anything else..will always be the same no matter if they reduce any backlog.

Talk to me next year when nothing has changed...

I bet u r right, wantmygcnow. However, I have one question. If the federal agency under the authority of DHS proclaimes reduction of the backlog for ALL TYPES OF APPLICATION as their strategic plan; if they announce exat dates when they gonna fulfill it, and for some reason by that time they are not even close to what they have stated, while other types of applications seem to be in more privilege position; is it a reason sufficient enough to consider descrimination and file a lawsuit against them? I always thought that USA is a country which suports minorities. BTW I was very impressed and surprised when Bush gave his support to cap elimination. It made me much more optimistic.

Minsk, What happens with the government is all politics. Here at USPS, we set goals every year..like I will do this and this..but most of them are not possible. If you remember last year DHS went to the "pay-for-performance" plan instead of getting flat raises every year...I feel the "backlog reduction" is another way of USCIS to show what they are doing to help achieve their goals...Its just politics and thats about it...If the goal is to reduce backlog to 6 months..it should start now...and not in August 2006...The more applications they dont touch..the more backlog it is...HOw about approving the 2000 I-485 for reducing the backlog..:)

I support wantmygcnow. Never ever trust USCIS. Other than eating your money - your tax money and application money, the only project they have successfully accomplished is to serve us asylees to the minimum, as less as possible.

I mailed them my RTD application at the end of June, and haven't got a ND letter yet from them. Of course, they took the money as soon as they received it. They never delay one second in taking your money. They are suckers, our blood suckers!!

I guess all u said is true, but admit that they've accelerated processing asylum based I-485 last few months. The fact that u've received BIO means u r quite close to ur GC. And u r ND 2001 :)

well Minsk..I wish that was the truth but with USCIS you never know...Actually even the 2002 applicants have gotten bio's..and I was roaming the other boards..employment-related boards and some of the 2004 applicants have gotten bio's...So I have no clue what they are doing...As you remember in the past, Fingerprints were only asked when your application was ready to be processed..but that changed and they wanted to know about your background...

Maybe BIO is to "match" your photo with all the databases..Hey you never know with USCIS..
