Has anyone else had an interview in the Dublin embassy? I've searched but haven't been able to find many that have written about it other than a couple of posts here. So if you have, do tell! I'd love to hear some more :)

DV winner Ireland

I am also a DV-2009 winner residing in the republic of Ireland. My interview will be in Dublin. I would also like to hear interview experiences from previous winners.

^ Congrats :) What's your case number like? When do you expect your interview? Have you all your documents ready etc.?

Hope to hear from some past Dublin interviewees ;)

Hey there, I won in Dublin. I have (about 20 mins ago) just gone though Dublin as My POE!!! I am officially a US resident now, even though I am still in Dublin. I don’t have time now to go into my interview, but remind me over the next few days and I will give you a full report.
In general it was very handy and no messing. Got the visa issued the same day and everything. I will post further details later, I am just about to board a flight to Boston.

Hi My number : 2009SA000009** I think I have all the documentations ready, but still anxious waiting for the interview for me and my wife. I am hoping for the best.
Alimetmee, could you tell us about the medical exam? how much and how long does it take? would private insurance such as VHI or Quinn cover the cost of medical exam? thank you for your input.

Good question about the VHI..., I never thought of that. Good luck with your interview :)

Hi guys,

I am DV-2009 winner and residing in Dublin. Does anybody know where we should do the medical examination such as vaccination, chest x-ray, etc? My case number is too high and not sure to get into the interview.

Please post your experience here if you have any.

Thanks and good luck to all DV-2009 winners especially from Dublin:D

Hey Im also from Dublin (and Irish) and fortunately got selected for DV2009
Congrats to you all.

Sent off my forms in May and now i suppose it is a waiting game.
Case number is in 18000s but i think that should be ok going by other experiences and i would expect an interview around May next year - hopefully.
I am quietly confident of getting it but more worried though. Hopefully my case number is not too high and am not sure what they would class as fails on the medical (not that i am expecting anything).

Interesting point about the VHI covering payment. Will have to look into that too.

Havent bothered with the documentation yet. Will get it all next year. The police report and other stuff needs to be close to the interview date so no point in doing that now.
Also getting married in couple of months and will be looking her onto my application straight after.

Best of luck Alex!

Dear alemitte,

Wish you the best of luck and safe trip to US. I have some questions as follow:rolleyes::

1. Can you tell me where you did your medical examination in Dublin and what vaccination they asked you to have?

2. Did they ask you about the Police certificate from Ireland and also from your country of citizenship? How did you get one?

3. Was the interview tough or not?

I can not wait until you answer these;) sorry I know that I asked a lot of questions.

Regards

Jasus, just read the October bulletin 11000 for europe already. That May prediction may be coming down. Just so long as it is after my wedding in November should be alright!

HK, look at the the garda website FAQs for the police cert info http://www.garda.ie/faq.html#C2
Bear in mind it can take up to 4 weeks so best to time it right

I think any doctor will do the medical. And dont think you need any specific vaccinations for the States.

Also if you search alemitmees posts and look around June 17/18 you see his report on the interview he did.

I have a question, for the fee will credit card do? Or will they take laser or even cash?

Hi guys,

I am DV-2009 winner and residing in Dublin. Does anybody know where we should do the medical examination such as vaccination, chest x-ray, etc?

They send you a list of Doctors in the second notification letter. I think there's a sample of it somewhere in an old topic. The Blackrock clinic is one of them I remember.

I had my interview in Dublin in Jan 08.

There's an Irish lady who works in the consular section is she was quite disorganized. As a result of her missing a key point with regards to Police clearance certs my interview had to be postponed for a couple of weeks. The interview itself was straightforward, lasted about 5 mins and basically consisted of swearing that everything is true and correct on the application form etc. Also asked about education and thats about it.

There are a number of doctors who can do the medicals, this information is sent out in the 2nd notification from KCC. There is a dr Maguire in Drumcondra who did mine, takes about a week. It shouldnt really take longer than 2 days but in Ireland most things are not efficient, I've come to realise this after 6 years of living there.

There is a standard form that has to be filled out by the dr including vaccinations. If you have a record of your vaccinations bring them along, otherwise you will get the shots again- I believe its all included in the price, somewhere between EUR300-400 dont remember exactly.

You must have a police clearance from every country you have lived in for more than 6 months since your 16th birthday I believe. Including the Irish one, check the reciprocity schedules for details

Not true methinks. There is a list of specific doctors chosen by them. You can't just use your own GP. There are also specific vaccinations required, a list of which is also included in the second notification letter.

Yeah that was cleared up after i posted. Thanks for the clarification.
Hope its ok for me to go over to the states on the visa waiver. Going over for three weeks at the weekend. But i think it should be ok reading some posts here but there are some conflicting opinions.

sorry for not responding to any of the questions, since I got here I have been up to my eyes getting my self set up. Don't have the Internet in my place in Boston so I am posting from my trusty ATT iphone!

I think most of the questions were answered. Medical in blackrock was €320. I paid in cash for the visa it was $775. (~500) so you are looking at about €800 for everything. I had about $10k.

I had three weeks off before starting in Boston. So bought a car, got a place in Somerville, sorted out bank account and that. Now I am having a well deserved break in NYC before I start work next week!
