Hello All,
Finally I had my interview @ Chennai consulate today. The whole interview process was seamless and very smooth.

We have been given VIP treatment all along. If you are applying for IV then you don't have to stand in any line, you can walk all the way to the counter without any issues. One VFS attendant had escorted us all the way from the entrance to the counter.

An agent at the Counter had gathered the following documents from us.
1. DS230 I & II. asked us to sign the 230 II in front of her
2. Passport
3. Birth Certificates
4. Marriage Certificate with marriage photos only.
5. Copies of W2 forms for the last 3 yrs
6. Copies of 1040 for the last 3 yrs
7. Most recent Pay stubs, only 3
8. Original H1 approval notice.
9. DD's for the Visa issuance fee
10. Employment letter

Gave us a token number and asked us to have a seat.

After an hour a consular had called us. We greeted her, she took oath, fingerprints and then...
Consular: When did you arrive?
We : On XXXX Day
Consular: Did you just come for the status adjustment
We : Yes
Now she asked my wife the following questions:
When did you get married?
Were you in US since you got married?
What do you do?

Now she asked me the following questions:
When are you planning to go back to US?
Are you going to spend the time here with your family?
What do you do? Describe your work?
How long have you been in US?
Did you study in US?
Who is your employer?
How long have you been with your employer?

All along the consular was very friendly and been cracking jokes with us.

She mentioned that she was very much impressed with the attention to detail that I presented in preparing the documentation.

Finally she said that our documents are in proper order and good, we should be expecting our passports within a week through VFS. You are done and can go home and enjoy. Good Luck!!

Thanks guys, for all the information and support. Its been a crazy week for me to go through the documents and get through this.

Well, Alls well that ends well. :)

Regards,
-DR.

DR, Wow, we all are happy for this news. Now you are free man.

One question. Since we handover original Brith cert and PCC to VFS, how do we show them at consulate? Do they give all the docs back which they collected at VFS before interview?

Also I used to file tax through HR block online through internet, so I have printed online copy of 1040. Do you think this will raise any issue?

thanks

vman

I did not submit original Birth Certificate to VFS and I never submitted PCC until the day of the interview.

But whatever I submitted before to VFS has been given back to me. I think you can trust them safely. They do take care of your documents.

Regarding your tax papers, I don't think it will raise any issue. I have filed taxes electronically and I just took a copy of 1040 and they did not express any concern over it.

Good Luck to you.

Regards,
-DR

Guys I have attended my CP interview today at New Delhi consulate.

Interview was scheduled at 9AM and reached there at 8:30AM. Went straight inside consular section and did not have to wait in queue outside as other members have mentioned. Handed over my interview letter to guy inside and he asked me to sit and wait. After 30 minutes was called to window # 17 and an Inidan guy, who had all my docs which I have submitted to VFS started asking couple question like when did you get married, asking who is Mr. XXX (my wife 's parent Name) and how he is related to you and same thing asked with my wife about my parent. Asked me when did you come back to india etc. After this he collected passports from both of us and handed over all docs which I have submitted to VFS back to me except PCC. He said wait for a while and you will be called again.

After around 40 minutes we were called at windows # 15 and there was an Amercan lady asked couple question like when did I get married and if I have been already working in US, How many kids I have and if they are USC.

No one has collected anything like W2, 1040, bank statements, I-134 etc.

Last question she asked me that if I work as sioftware engineer and I said YES. Finally she said you will get your passport back in a week from VFS. She did not mention anything like "congrats you IV has been approved and you are noe permanent resident kind of statement".

When I have submitted my DS-230 Part 1 initially in US, I have mentioned SOFTWARE ENGINEER as my present occupation on question number 12 on DS230 part1. But when I refilled the DS-230 part 1 again before interview i have mentioned exact job title "datawarehouse developer" (which was on my labor cert). Do you guys thing when she asked me if I am SOFTWARE ENGINEER, she was checking it and have rejected it.

when they reject, do you think they will still say "you will get your passport in a week" or if it was rejection, she could have clearly told after the interview.

Guys, please help me with your opinion as I will not be able to sleep well until I get my passport.

Thanks a lot for all the information presented on this forum by great people.

Attended CP interview today (25th)

Friends,
I attended CP interview today at Mumbai consulate. It was EB3.
On July 16, we submitted the documents below
1. DS 230 pages
2. PCC from Indian consulate Toronto, Canadian PCC and my 2 year old PCC from Singapore for 97-98 timeframe.( No local PCC).
3. Marriage certificate
4. Birth certificates.
5. No medical as we were suppose to pick it up that evening.
6. Passport pages (demographic info only).
7. Photographs
They gave a receipt after paying the courier fee.

Today,
Reached there at 7. Got inside (they do have separate line for IV cases) by 7.25.
8.40 -- Indian guy called my name.
Asked for medical, employment letter and passports.
Canceled our B1B2 but assured us that we would get our visa and said they usually don’t do that to H1 visas.
11.00
An American officer called us again.
Took oath.
She took our finger prints.
She asked us to sign Ds 230 second page.
Asked me what would I do, what did I do so far and when did I come to the states and no questions for my wife or my son.
Didn’t ask for I134. Although I had one with me.

She told us that it was okay and we would get our passport with in a week?

I asked her if we would get our visas to make sure and she said yes and I asked her if I could pick it up from VFS she said yes I could pick it up from VFS at 5 PM. We thanked her and came out.

Went to VFS at 5. showed the receipt that I had from VFS and they gave me a number. Went inside and within 5 mins they called my number and handed me our passports.

After 9 years we finally got the VISA.

I don’t have regular net access her. But if you have any specific question please ask me.

I am going to be at JFK on the 6th of Aug. Will post my POE experience after that.

Thanks to everyone here. Wouldn’t have survived for so long without you guys.

hi everyone
we attneded the interview on July 26th at Chennai for EB based interview and we were approved. the interview was a breeze in 1-2 mins.

questions ot me:
1) who is ur employer?
2) how long have you worked for him?
3) what is your designation?
4)describe your role?
5)when did you complete ur master's in US?

questoins to my wife:
1)when did you get married?
2) how long have you been US?
3) do you have any kids? how old is the kid? --since my kid was only 40 days old born in US she told it would have been a llong journey.

She then said the doucments were in order and you should receive ur visas in a week's time.

I thank Rajiv khanna and rest of the folks who have shared valuable tips in this saga of experience. Eitherway i though i might not be able to attend the interview on time because of my new bundle of joy, finally i pushed it hard and made it.

Once you get your passport, please let me know if you also have some annotation at the bottom of IV stamp on you passprt.

Thanks

Manish

manishraj.

POE at JFK wasn’t eventful at all.
Joined the line for Citizens and GC holders.
Turned in my passport, customs form to the officer along with the sealed envelope.
He checked my papers. Stamped my passport and took me to a lady who took my fingerprint. No questions asked. Everything was done in 10 minutes and I drove back to Toronto.
