Do consult couple of known lawyers including Sheila Murthy (murthy.com??), who is the Liaison Officer between the INS and the Lawyers. She is one of the most lawyers in the country and can talk to the INS directly. My lawyer Ware David also meets with the Nebraska INS once in a while. They discuss special cases like yours during such meetings. Call me if you require any help from me.
