during her job interview for a nurse, my freind girl been asked if she have previous positive ppd skin test...when she said "yes'"..they ask her for x-ray chest (every 12 month)+record of tb preventive medicine +attestation form indicate that she never experienced or currently experiencing tb symptomes.
she just recieved her green card based on asylum case and she have lpn license.
any similar situation?

My former employer was satisified with negative reading of my chest X-ray. I would never ever take this preventive medication, which is highly toxic and destroys liver.

In MA, health-care workers are required to take the TB test. There was a highly publicized case a few months ago when a doctor was diagnosed with TB, she hid it and continued to work, and gave TB to a few of her patients. Got herself and her boss fired.

I dont know if in your friend's case they will settle for the clean chest X-ray (which is good enough for the CIS) but this question is, at least in Massachusetts, very normal.

in CA, x-ray chest is enough. I have a tb vaccine from europe, so I came positive. my chest was clean and this was completely enough.
absolutely do not take tb medicine; could be very problematic.

As some friends mentioned above. + PPD and normal chest X ray is safe in most cases. you don't even have to repeat the chest X ray every year and after a couple of years they would leave you alone. in some places + PPD and normal chest X ray is called latent TB and you have to take the TB medication that is only one medication (INH) for 6 months in most of the cases. Yes, this is toxic but doesn't really destroy the liver. 1000s of people are on it right not without any problem and if you need to take it, you should take it. It is much better than getting TB. When you are offered TB meds for latent TB, you can still refuse to take it. there are less toix meds available too/
