I agree with Gilbert, use a attorney ...
gayman, just because a person is gay doesn\'t entitle him, or her, to asylum in the US. Sexual orientation is not a valid ground for asylum in the US. This is unlike several countries where gay citizens can actually sponsor their partner for immigration. However, if you have a well-founded fear of persecution or torture, based purely on your sexual orientation, and you are able to show documentary, or physical proof of this, then there is a possibility that your case will be considered. It is going to be a long a complicated process - success is not guaranteed - and Gilbert\'s advice on using an attorney should be followed. They are actually attorneys who specialize in this area. Are they particulars in your own case that you think would make you a suitable candidate for asylum? However, you must realize that just because you are gay, and you want to immigrate to the US, is not sufficient grounds for obtaining asylum. Good luck.
