Hi everybody, our i-485 was transferred to chicago ins because of FP issue. Has anybody received any approvals from chicago ? They say they take 2 years to approve. But sometimes they expedite. Any response will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
Can you please tell us exactly what were the FP related issues.
Thanks.

My wife\'s FP was rejected 3 times and then NSC doesn\'t send you another FP notice. As FP failed 3 times, case has to transfer to local INS office so that they can do an interview before they approve i-485 application. This is what I was told by IIO. Problem is chicago INS is 1 year behind NSC in i-485 cases. So our case will take one more year compare to NSC because of FP problem.

welcome to the sucker\'s group. My case has been transferred to chicago on 4/12 for no reason. My lawyer said she\'s seen case in June 2000 been approved. So it maybe another half to one year. Have you received INS notice regarding the transfer yet?

You may want to register at immitracker.com. They have a chat board for all local transfer people and a list trakcing the status.
No encouraging news yet.

few weeks back I spoke to INS supervisor at chicago office, and he said the wait queue is 26 months. But I was told by my company, that normally when they transfer cases for interview, they setup an appointment date, so that you by pass the queue. INS local Chicago office, generally deal with Family based cases, where the queue is for 26 months. Not very often he said they\'ll get EB cases.

I hope this helps. I suppose you\'ll have to wait to see the notification letter for the appointment date.

Hello Singh_saab, what is the phone # for IIO. I have just national customer service #. And they give broad timings and I can\'t ask them specific case questions. Do you have a # where chicago INS IIO will pick up the phone ?

Thanks.

vvkkmm, at the local Chicago office, there are no IIO\'s who pick up the phone.

Here\'s the number: (312) 385-2802 Alvida\'s line, ask her to tansfer to an adjudication officer. If she ask\'s how you got the number, don\'t reveal the source, just say you got transfered to her.

Good luck.

Singh_Saab,

Thanks for your insider infor. How long have you been transferred to Chicago? Did you receive a notice from INS or Chicago office regarding the notice? My case has been transferred on 4/12 according to AVM and I have not received any notice yet?

My lawyer also told us she has just been to two interviews last couple weeks, and it only took them 2 months to get the interview. She said chicago is processing eb case differently than family base. I hope this is true. Keep our finger crossed.

KimBP, it is true that Chicago office is processing EB cases differently than Family. My app is not transferred to local INS office. It is being reviewed at the service center. I called them, because someone informed me to call my local office for status.

Why do they ask you to call local office for status if it\'s not transferred and is processing at the service center?

How do you know it\'s true that chicago office is processing EB differently? A lot of people went to chicago office and got the answer that it\'s still taking 780 days to get it.

You insight is highly appreciated. Thanks!
