Another victim of USCIS

Hello everyone and thanks for this great forum.

My case is as follow, my wife submitted a petition for my son who is 19 years old, after a while the case was transferred to Laguna Nigel in California to speed up the proccess, they requested more evidence for the i-485, I submitted the evidence 6 days after receiving the request, now USCIS says that because they never received the evidence the case has been denied.

I do have the proof from post office as well as the printouts from the usps website but I misplaced the copy of the yellow letter where they requested the evidence.
I went to the USCIS office in Baltimore today and spoke with an officer and she said that by mailing a letter with copy of the post office receipts they should take care of it but then my wife called the cust service just to confirm and they say that she needs to file a motion with $585.00 dollars for the case to be reopen.
Then my wife went off and told them that without any other names for it, they were stealing in public and that was like going to walmart and pay twice for an item.

Please help me, i cannot afford and attorney at this time and I don't know any other options.

Again thanks,

See Catholic Charities (you do not have to be Catholic to go to them) or your local law school Legal Clinic. They offer free or reduced cost legal services.

Did you submit your evidence with certified mail and return receipt? If you don't have return receipt but just the post office receipt showing that you mailed them out, there's no proof that they have received it. Always mail them out using certified mail and return receipt.
