I am a US citizen. I'm planning to visit Mauritius next month to meet someone I met online for the first time. If all goes well, we even plan on getting engaged during my stay.
Now, she already has a B2 tourist visa, but has never been to the US. If we get engaged, we then plan to fly back together and get married in the US.
1) What are the risks of doing this?
2) I have already looked into some of the legal issues, such as a 60-day presumption period on intent to marry, K-1, K-3, etc. K-1 is not feasible in this scenario, unless we spend significantly more time and money for the whole process -- getting engaged in Mauritius, I petitioning for a fiancee visa after I get back alone, a few months for her to wait in Mauritius for the K-1 visa, etc.
That said, is a K-1 visa still the best route to take? If we wait over 60 days after her entry to get married in the US, what are the risks of that?
3) When we arrive in the US, should I stand in line with her and introduce her as my girlfriend who is "visiting the US to decide if we have a future together, since we only met a few days earlier?" or should I stand separately and pretend not to know her?
Thanks in advance for your insight.
