Another thread on shoplifting

I was arrested 4 years ago for shoplifting while on J1 visa. The judge told me to pay a fine (something around $200 or even less), but I didnt.
Now I'm thinking of going to the US again, do I have any chances?
I've read lots of similar threads on this forum and as far as I understand that theft record would not be a serious obstacle because it was a petty theft (I was only told to pay a fine, no jail time, no community service) and by the time I make the visa application it would have been more than 5 years ago. But what to do with the fact that I didnt obey the court order? Is it a more serious violation of law? Can I do anything about it, for example, can I pay that fine now?

You were convicted of a CIMT, you will be found inadmissibile under 212(a)(2)(A)(i)(I) and will need a 212(d)(3) NIV waiver. Since you did not pay the fine, chances are there is a warrant of arrest out for you. You are making one mistake, it isn't what punishment you received for your crime that matters, it is the "possible" sentence. :D

I contacted the court yesterday, and they said that the case was closed in November 2005 and there's no warrant. Am I in better situation now?
