No Foul Language please
Few of the things we inherited from COL-RULE/US/WEST are beurocracy, corruption (at lower level due to clerical system) and foul language (luckily, not too much cunningness but ofcourse - a degree of street-smartness).
I urge all of us not to use foul language which is not used publicly in our society (atleast till a while ago - it used to be in pvt conversations only - between intimate friends).
On the recruiters front, I agree with you, with a correction.
It is not confined to Desis only (your exp are with Desis because, most of us come through Desi recruiters). It is general US culture (HIRE/FIRE) and is reflected in their day2day business life also. Our guys just pick-up this.
After watching and being involved in their business practices (USE&THROW), I observed this very regularly. There is no such thing like word-of-honour in this society except "opportunitism" (exists in India too but trust me, degree varies a lot) and atleast you must be used to it (if you can\'t practice it).
One difference between Desis and these people is, desis, who practice american style, do it bluntly, which they need to change.
Dear friends/ future PRs / future Citizens of our country,
When you decide to stay here for the rest of your life, you have two choices:
(1) Practice USA (that is what present generation of Indians/Desis are able to adapt quickly except for their bluntness)
(2) If you are so sensitive and can not, good, atleast, try to understand the philosophy(ies) here, be cautious and get used to it.
There is no use to cry or shout AND no body cares here. Do not be too sensitive and do not waste your breath dears.
Stay cool, Observe and (atleast) act not to be exploited to your best.
cheers
