Another Name Check/FP Question(s)

I have gone thru several old threads regarding name check and FP clearence from FBI. I am kind of confused about when to initiate this with FBI. I see that people contact the FBI (for name check) only after realizing that their case is delayed beyond a reasonable time. I also note that FP clearance (different from name check) from FBI happens usually on the same day as it is outsourced to a private firm.

My FP appt. is on 05/21/05. Should I proactively start the name check procedure from the FOIPA request form and fax it to FBI and email them reminders and get some sort of a communication from them on name check. Should I wait for FP to be completed before I take this action? Should I even bother about doing it? Rahul, Others pls. comment.

My recommendation to you is NOT to file FOPIA as it will not benefit and it may delay your processing (on my opinion). Look at my other posts related to this. If you received your FP notice, that means the name check request has been already submitted to the FBI by CIS. Just send an email to the FBI to check the status of your name check. FBI will respond to you after 5-6 months :eek: . Wait until your interview date where you will now if you have a name check issue. 80% of the time, you will not.

I agree with Steve. Personally I think there is no need to check w/fbi before the interview.
 
i do not think it is necessary to check your name check before interview. what would you have to do if the name check was not cleared before your interview anyway? nag FBI?

i am in the same boat. i just have to wait till the interview and see what is going to happen.

I am wondering why do you think it will delay the process if I send in the FOIPA form to FBI. I would assume it may not have any effect but how can it delay it beyond the normal processing time if you initiate the request?
