I go to a college in upstate NY. The USCIS DO for that location is the Albany Office.

I graduate in May and I am moving to NYC in May. My 5 years - 90 days and my graduation almost coincide.

So, if I apply 5 years - 90 days, will I have to go up to the Albany USCIS Office for my interview?

That depends on where you will live after graduation. The interview is supposed to be conducted at the DO corresponding to the applicant's current (as of the time of the interview) place of residence.

Similarly, the oath is administered at the DO corresponding to the applicant's current (as of the time of the oath) place of residence.

Plus you should also remember about the three month district residency requirement.

If you apply while having an address close to that office, and then move far away (outside the jurisdiction of the Albany DO), you will have to live 90 days in the new area before you can be interviewed.

It depends on how soon USCIS receives your address change after you move. Seeing that you'll be moving so soon after applying -90 days ahead, you'll need to establish 3 months of residency at the new address (assuming it's in a new district area) before you can successfully take the interview.

I am still or even more confused now. Suppose I go to SUNY Albany, and I am graduating May 1 next year and immediately starting out at a job in New York City. My 5 years minus 90 days is also May 1 next year.

So, by moving from Albany to NYC, I will effectively waste my 90 day head start and will have to apply after I have lived in NYC for 3 months or can I go up to Albany for my interview and oath (and still use my 90 day head start) ?

If you are within the 90-day window before the 5 year anniversary, you are allowed to apply before completing 3 months in the district, but you still must have completed the 3 months by the day of the interview.
