Hi! Let's share in this post our experience in Anaheim asylum office. I will start from mine:

Form I -589- November 2012
FP done - December 2012
Form i765 (for EAD) - April 2013
No interview date yet.

What is yours?

I have 2 questions:

Are you In Status or Out of Status when you apply the I-589?

Are you CURRENTLY In Status or Out of Status?
 
I was in status when I filed for asylum "F1".

I589 March 1, 2011
FP, March 15 th , 2011
Asylum Interview, April 4 th 2011
Granted, July 22nd 2011

Usually, when you are in status, they do not interview you right away,
they give interview schedule priority for people who were out of status (or near out of status like people in B1/B2 visa).

Perhaps you should write them a letter and asked them (Anaheim office).

Actually I was almost out of status when applied. So I really don't know how they choose? And I contact the office almost every week, but the answer is the same: " Your case is pending". That's why I want to understand their priority as I see that some people get interview in Anaheim without delay.

I want to kindly ask you 2 questions,

I received my Finger Print Notice today sent directly from Laguna Miguel (not from Anaheim office),
and
Strangely I have NOT received my receipt of asylum application yet.
(usually people receive the finger print notice AFTER they received the receipt of asylum application).

My question are:
1. When you received your First Receipt as acknowledgment of your asylum application,
Did they sent it from Laguna Miguel or from Anaheim Office?

2. When you received your Finger Print notice,
Did they sent it from Laguna Miguel or from Anaheim Office?

Please kindly help me on this information,

1. I didn't recieve any receipt from them, maybe my attorney did? I didn't really care about it as soon as I got FP NOTICE.
2. FP notice they sent from USCIS but it wasn't clarified form which office exactly.
Dont worry about receipt notice as you already got you FP invitation. That mean that they got your application and the case is pending.
And I applied for EAD just with copy of FP notice, without receipt.

Hi Asylum2012,

Was there a receipt number on you FP notice or was it just your A number on it? I haven't received a receipt yet and it's been 150 days today. However, when I sent an inquiry the asylum office replied with a letter saying that "no interview has been scheduled" and that I will be notified when they do. I wanna file for the EAD now with just the letter they sent. Any thoughts on this?

Hi! It just had my A number, without receipt number. FP notice will be ok, don't worry.
