An Urgent Question~interview tomorrow!

I will have my citizenship interview tomorrow, and I have a quick question.

I held my student visa (F-1) from Jun. 2000 to Dec. 2004.
I got my Green Card in Jan. 2004. (marriage base with US citizen)
I filed my N-400 in Oct. 2006. (90 days before the 3rd anniversary of GC)

On N-400 Form, Part 7, A. How many total days did you spend outside of the United States during the past five years?

My question is :
Does the time spent outside of the US as a F-1 holder (before I received my Green Card) during the past five years count?

Because I only filled out the days that I spent AFTER I got my Green Card during the past five years, do I need to tell the Interview Officer to correct Part 7, Question A: the Total Days outside of the US during the past five years ?

The answer is given by the question asked: the form says you need to indicate "How many total days did you spend outside of the United States during the past five years" regardless of whether it was as a GC Holder or not.

Only the number of days during the three-year period will be conted for eligibility however you would need to indicate the number of days spent outside the United States for the past five years.

The interview should give you time and opportunity to have this correccted.

Time spent outside of USA LAST 5 years, so whether you are on GC or not, doesn't matter. You shd have listed all the time outside of USA for the last 5 yrs. LOGIC right.

I will tell the interview officer to correct it for me.

Since I filed my N-400 last year(in Oct. 2006), should I start counting back from 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002 to 2001 (the past five years since the date I sent it)?

Or counting back from 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003 to 2002 (the past five years since now) ?

Don't worry. During the interview, IO will go over all the information on your N-400. At that time, you should tell him that you were not sure about your situation, just the way you have written in your OP.

Then tell him about other additional trips outside US.

The IO usually tries to match entries from your passport to your entries on your N-400. Hence, you may need to take initiative to tell the IO first.

I applied under the 3 year rule and supplied my information based on those 3 years only. Was not an issue at my interview. Your mileage may vary however.
