An Idea!

Peaceful rally to voice concerns about name checks

After having gone through the whole name check nightmare and finally almost to the end. I thought that i would feel somewhat better. I thought that hearing the words approved would make me feel extremely wonderful. It does make me feel wonderful but sad for all of you that are still going through it. It makes me upset that USCIS does not know how they are destroying lives with their blatant carelessness. I just want to say that all of you that are still waiting, don't give up. I just want to say thank you to this board. I know that if i hadn't found this board, i would have been waiting a much longer time.

My idea is probably one that has been thought of before but i think it's a good idea. Has anyone thought about a march just to protest the name check? Maybe a protest. Someone and i don't remember who, stated that they feel like a criminal, maybe they should turn themselves in to the local police. How about a protest like that. A whole lot of people that have handcuffs on standing outside of several police stations would be hard to ignore. Has anyone thought about that. I would be more than happy to volunteer my time. Maybe it's time we do something to really protest this namecheck torture.

Frustrated_aLot,

Yes. It is a painful process, and yes maybe we should support a march of protest.
Recently, the green card folks did a peaceful march, and then things worked out for them. They got noticed. Most of the green card protest folks may have been from India or China.

We'll get more representation and diversity for this Namecheck protest march.
There will be people from varying countries in Citizenship process delayed with this. Also, Green card applicants as well.

Across the board, huge rally. The biggest rally ever for improving and helping the Immigration process.
Peaceful rally to voice our concerns with this. It may be worth it.

Frustrated_aLot,
Can you do me a small favor. Please click "Edit" on your first post, then click "Advanced edit", and change the title of your first post to "Peaceful rally to voice concerns about name checks "

Having a title like "An idea" is a bit of a misnomer.

Yes, it is tempting to get your own taken care of and move on but i just won't feel right. Not after what i went through. I know that others are waiting a lot longer than me. After bein in that position i know what it does to peoples lives. I recieved so much help from this board that i feel like i have to help someone else. It is not right what USCIS and the FBI is doing. They are ignoring the problems and treat us like just another number. You feel like a criminal. The depression i felt after going through this was real. I will willingly help anyone that's going through it. :)

You are on the right track. This problem will not be fixed until people like us who have been in and out of this hole remember their ordeal and do something about it. Its human nature to improve things that have hurt them in the past and thats what has got civilizations to this stage from the early caveman days.

Frustrated_alot, I wanted to pull this stunt but was afraid it would cause more headaches. I wanted to go to the local police station but thought they would really book me under some nuisance law, obstruction of justice, contempt of law etc.

Maybe what we can do instead of going to the police stations is maybe have that same stunt just in a big march in one central place. Same affect just different place.
