An extinct visa - V visa

Hi:

I was wondering if there is anyone here who is an expert on the V visa or have a lot of information on its history/policy or have some personal experience with it. The visa was a way for spouses of PR to come to the US before petitions for PR were current.

Feel free to post responses on this thread.

read up on it on www.uscis.gov and www.travel.state.gov. There are very specific rules for V visa, that's why it's not issued very often nowadays.

Lucy:

Thanks for the advice! I suppose by (hurriedly) phrasing my question the way I did, I opened up the type of advice I usually give people who pose such questions - start at uscis.gov. However, I am very much familiar with the basic information available on uscis.gov - I am looking to hear from people who:
(1) Know about the legislative history behind it
(2) Have been impacted by it (or conversely, been impacted by it because they are ineligible)

I am currently researching the legislative efforts to revive it - but it looks like such efforts were killed with a new Session and I have not been able to find any new bills introduced, addressing the issue.

Immigration law may be a pain in the azz but wait 'til you deal with liability issues under the UCC. Now that's really fun. BTW, how far back were you researching the V visa? Have you tried to contact this guy (info is not too old) for more info:
