According to “Ngwanyia v. Gonzalez (02-502 (RHK) District of Minnesota) Class Settlement” An Asylee's legal permission to work does not depend on the Asylee having employment authorization document (EAD). If I am not mistaken, we don't need to renew EAD or it’s kind of confusing

Since 2001 asylees have NOT needed EADs to work. This policy has been clearly articulated by the USCIS/INS, the Department of Justice and the Social Security Administration.

agree

that is right, just your unrestricted social security card and state ID is sufficient to prove you can work.
some people like to have one, I know you don't need it, but if a new employer insists in see one, I think it is better to get it.
I have a friend who was offered a job here in new york, he insisited the employer he did not need the EAD, later he let them know he was gonna apply for one when he was told they had hire somebody else.
sometimes is pretty hard to fight against ignorance.

This is what I got from USCIS a couple of month ago the enquiry was made on my behalf thru a local congressman office

“Pursuant to Sec. 274A of the INA, it is unlawful for a person or other entity to hire an alien knowing the alien is an unauthorized alien. Mr. *******is required to have evidence of employment authorization if he is working. It appears that Mr. ********would benefit from the Ngwanyia v. Gonzales ruling and have a multi-year employment authorization document. However, the limit of asylee adjustment approvals per year has been lifted.”

a couple of days ago, I just find another classification about asylees in tax regulation, "U.S person" which including U.S. citizen, GC holder, refugees and asylee. In U.S, asylee is treated with same tax rates as citizen, we also are protected from any unfair immigration-related employment practice, check this http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/osc/ref/8usc1324b.htm
