Amsterdam - TRANSIT VISA

Dear Friends,

This is urgent and I need some help from you all.. My wife is traveling to India on a personal emergency on Tuesday. She is filying via Amsterdam and I wanted to know if she would need an airport transit visa. She has her I551 stamped on her passport and also her H4 VISA valid till June 2005.

Would she still need a transit VISA?

I have the same scenario and I am travelling with Northwest via Amsterdam w/I551 stamp.
 
I am ALMOST sure that she does not need transit visa in Amsterdam.

I have visited India last December with AP and my H1 was dead by that time. They just checked my AP.

Since your wife has I-551 stamped on her passport and valid H4 VISA, she will not have any problem in Amsterdam.

However, things might have changed between last December and now. So if you want to be 100% sure, please call the airlines.

BTW, my friend has I-551 on his passport and wanted to travle to India via UK a couple of days ago. Since he didn't have the UK transit visa, he was not allowd to board the filght at Newark, NJ airport. I beleive France has also imposed the transit visa rule recently.

She does not need a transit visa to go through Amsterdam. She needs a Visitor visa if she wants to go outside the airport terminal. But as long as she stays in, she doesn not need a visa.

GiveMeMyGCNow, Things have changed. Even if you don't step out of the transit lounge you need a TRANSIT VISA. I have enquired about this and look into the web sites of the respective consulates to get a clear answer.

Well hathwar, I have checked with Nethelands Embassy in D.C. as well as their website. You do not need transit visa if you have a passport stamp in the passport and assuming that you are in transit to India (with an Official Indian passport).
