AMIE degree

AMIE degree -- guru please suggest

Hi,
I have AMIE (Associate member of institution of Engineers) degree in civil engineering and Master of technology from IIT in civil engineering, do you think that I will have problem at 140 stage. My LCA says bachelor of engineering or equivalent. Does anybody have AMIE degree and issue at 140 stage.

Basically I have 10+2+AMIE(which is considered equivalent to BE in India) + MTech (1.5years).
Also I have experience of 9 years in IT.
Any suggestion is welcome. My degree equivalecy by FIS says AMIE is equivalent to Bachelor of engineering from accredited college in USA.
I have been in USA on H1b for around 6 years.

In my opinion, you should have any problems. Most education evaluations consider AMIE as an equivalent to BE.

Be cautious with your LCA though. If it requires BE, there is a likelihood that it might fall into EB3 as opposed to EB2 to which you qualify for. Again, it depends on the job req that your employer had, while filing for LC.

Truely my opinion(s). Please consult your attorney for a legal opinion.

I did Diploma and AMIE (Electronics & Comm) and having 8 yrs Experience. As you said, my lawyer also saying EB2 will become the problem. and need to fill EB3. As per the some posting in this forum even EB3 also getting problem?? If so how can we resolve this problem.

Did you perform education evalution? where you did the evalution?

Hi Ramana;
I did not get problem at 140 stage in EB-3 category. I did premium process and got it approved. I do not know about EB2 category. I think they strictly look for 4 year degree for EB2. Good luck to you.
