Guys! My uncle who applied for GC with receipt date of March 2000 has received the notice for finger printing. I know there are people waiting from previous dates but he has did get a finger print notice today (03/12/04)

Does that something to do with 22,000 visas judge granted?
Any comments?

congratulations , i got my FP done in 08-15-03, as you can see, it has been 7 month and i haven't heard anything yet. I think FP is valid for 12 month, so i am expecting something before August 2004.

This can mean many things. Perhaps they are trying to prepare for the new fiscal year which is 6 months away. Or, we may find a great jump in the number of green cards due to the latest court victory. Alternatively, this may be a security measure if your uncle is from the Middle East or Southeast Asiaa. They may be attempting to monitor everyone. I am sorry to be so pessimistic but dealing with the INS for 12 years now had created this attitude in me.

Does the status on-line change when they send the fingerprint notice? Does it say something about it?
 
Thanks for the correction derila2003, cookimonster, the status is still the same. nothing is mentioned about FP.
