Am I Say ,Missing and Expired Green Card

Hey am I safe from the INS, to file for a G-639 FOIA to find out my Green card number even though it has been expired since 2001? I don't want any problems with INS...like come to my house with my address on record with the application since my green card has expired ? Can someone answer this for me please? Thank for your response
 
You mean your A-number? It should be on your I-485 receipt, the approval notice, old EADs and Advance Parole (if you got any), etc. and possibly written in your passport.
 
The OP has written other posts indicating that all papers were burnt by husband, and they divorced. However, there are other contradictory posts by OP asking for tax filing information for N-400 purposes. Not sure what is going on.

I do not think losing documents is a problem, but GC expired for 8 years ... that's too big to ignore for anyone, including CIS.

That won't happen. Your green card expiring and not having a renewed done doesn't mean your permanent resident status expired, unless it was a conditional 2-year green card obtained via marriage.
 
You guys thank you for all your contribution to my questions both sanjoseaug20 and Jackolantern. Actually this particular was for a friend. She contact FOIA directing is working on it to see about obtaining here Alien number. Thank you.
 
While the physical card has an expiration date, the status doesn't expire. Unless 'your friend' has other reasons to be afraid of the immigration service he/she could walk into any of their service offices, identify him/herself and ask to have the A-number looked up. Then 'your friend' can file the correct form for issuance of a new card.

I agree with hadron ... she should make an Infopass appointment, and carry various ID with her to the USCIS office ... SSN card, license, passport (including the old passport that was active when her GC was approved), and they should be able to look up her A-number based on that information.
 
Thank you Jackolantern......the scare was because she has was a homemaker for several years and her ex-husband handled everything and later during divorce destroyed all her documents. Plus, the fact that her green card had expired several years ago that she was out of "Status" and would be deported....having an expired Green card.
 
Jackolantern and Hadron, I just posted a new question on a new post. I greatly appreciate your inputs. Please search other my id byy10 to find it. It is about my interview. Or I could post the question here even though this is a different topic? Thanks for your response.
