I have done back to back Masters degrees. Two years back I attended the Masters in Electrical Engineering program and recently completed an MBA from a different university. I took admission to the MBA program before officially graduating from the MS program. I will graduate from the MS program this Fall (took a long time to get my thesis approved). I already have the MBA degree in hand. I am currently working for a company on OPT which will expire on Oct '08. This OPT was applied through the university from where I did my MBA. I am afraid my MBA program does not fall under STEM category and therefore I cannot avail the 17 month OPT extension. However, my previous MS in Electrical does fall under STEM. My question is - can I switch my EAD/OPT from the MBA university to MS university so that I am eligible for the new OPT extension rule?
Note: My current I-20 is from the university where I did MBA but I will officially graduate from the MS in Engineering this June ('08).
