Hello,
My status online just changed today from "Approved on July 21st. 2003.." to "On June 3rd, after approving your case, we ordered you a new card. It will be sent to you as soon as it is ready." (ND: August 1998.)

So, as you can see my I-485 was approved last year and I am still waiting for the actual card. Yes, almost a whole year!!! So just how close am I to getting it? At this point, are we still talking months or weeks? I just don't know. Can someone help me with this? Thank you.

T.

My card arrived 3 days after the message changed to the same message as yours. Being that today is Thursday, 3 days would make it Sunday, so perhaps sometime next week. Good Luck! Let us know.

call usci help line

you need to call and put a trace on that, green card once approved does not take longer than 3 months

i did call to see what was up about a month ago, and then a couple of weeks later I got a letter in the mail that said that it would take up to 15 months to get the actual card, but not after the date I got stamped but after the date Nebraska was notified.. In my case, I was stamped in August and the date Nebraska was "officially notified by my local INS office" about producing the card was November 17 (I had no idea about this until I got the letter). So, anyway, the letter said up to 15 months after Nov. 17 (i'm not kidding!), and this is a standard procedure. So, those who get stamped be prepared to wait a while. It is not true it takes only a few months. I know three other people who waited a whole year (and one who waitied even longer and had to renew her temporary card).

But it sounds like I really am almost there. It's a matter of days now. Oh, vow! What a relief. I am actually going away next month and was praying that I would get it in time for my trip abroad.

another change

still waiting but getting very close....
So just to give you all an update: My "This cases was approved" message was recently changed to "On June 3rd, after approving your case, we ordered you a new card..."
As of this morning, it reads:

On June 5, 2004, the card order was completed and we mailed the applicant's new card directly to him or her. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this card, you may wish to verify or update your address."

I guess this is it! For now, anyway.

Good luck to everyone. And please, don't be too paranoid about all this. I've read this post for a whole year (never posted) and always felt that some people stressed too much over so many issues. It's tough, I know it well (I got my asylum approved in 1996 and look how long I've waited.) I feel for all of you still waiting, but one thing is for sure: things are much better these days (in the old days, those of us in waiting didn't even know if everything was ok with their application). Those of you who applied later than 1999 will wait less than the rest of us, I am certain of that. You are almost there. Just don't question who gets approved when. In the end, it doesn't change a damn thing but make you lose sleep over it.

All best. Peace.
