I already posted some info on another thread explaining my situation. It is this one:

I already sent all my paperwork ( I-130, I-485, I-864, and medical exam) but haven't received any receipt yet from USCIS. I was an asylee before and I got my SS# that does NOT require a DHS Work Permit. With that being said technically I am still under a Visitor visa until I receive a notice from USCIS. Am I able to use my ss# to get a job? I have heard that as long as I pay taxes the US government won't care but that could be a total lie as well...Anyone with some helpful info please? Thank you!

Do you have that asylee status still? I assume you abandon it when you left. But if that's the case you probably can't work. Hopefully, someone with some knowledge will pitch in....

You may have an SS#, but you do not have authorization to work if you are on B-2 status. Once your EAD comes through, you are good to go.
