Hi folks,
I am confused about this and hope someone can help me here. I am on a valid H1-B visa and working for a company. While on this company's payroll is it legal to obtain any alternate income? The alternate income in this case is a small public website I developed on my own, but draws about $600 per year (actually the first year this happened) through the ads on the site. The ad company (Chitika) has asked me to fill a W9 form and submit to them for tax purposes. Not that I have an issue with paying any tax, but I am just concerned that I'd be breaking any immigration law by doing so. That is, obtaining an alternate income while on a company's H1-B. I don't want to jeopardize my H1-B and the on-going GC processing for a mere $600.
If any of you are knowledgable about this (or better, earn any alternate income yourself), please help me out with some advice.
Thank you.
