Already have a H1 and applying for B1

Hi,

I have been working with Company A in India for the last 5 years. In 2007, I got employment offer from Company B and they sponsored my H1. I even got it stamped. But due to personal reasons I could neither join the Company B nor travel to US on the H1. I also didn't leave my employment with Company A. Now due to work related issues, Company A wants me to travel to US for a month. For the travel they want to apply for B1. My H1 is still valid.

Please let me know if it is possible to get a B1 in these situations without hurting my prospects of ever travelling to US. Also is there a way by which Company A should never know about it.

Just apply for a B-1 visa. What exactly are you trying to hide from your employer?
