Alien Registration

I am filing I-130 in May for my wife. I am having a difficult time with one question which I am not finding help on the uscis site. The form asks for alien registartion number. She will not receive this until she is in the USA, is ,my understanding. Is this correct? I am very confused on this issue.

You write in none because she does not have one yet. Don't worry USCIS will assign her an Alien Number when they approve the petition. Don't leave it blank, none must be written in it.
