After labor certification--what's next?

I just got my labor certification via a 2002 RIR application (from the Dallas Backlog Reduction Center). My H1b (2nd three years) expires in September. What do I need to do now so that I can continue to work for my current and sponsoring employer after the H1b expires? I will need to take a business trip abroad in July 2007. What do I need to do so I can get permission to go on that business trip? I've been searching the Internet for answers re the process and I think I need to file an I-140 very soon but I don't know what should be done after doing that. I know it may be some time before I can get a number so that the process can go forward and be completed (I'm from one of the "Other" countries). If someone will be so kind as to explain the process to me, I'd be very grateful.
