After interview, case is pending!

Dear all,
My wife had the AOS interview on 7/27/04, it went smoothly. Before its done, this officer told security clearance is required for my wife, And after name check completes, my wife should recieve the green card through mail. We was pretty happy about it, then the confusion arises. Recently, I checked the status with NCSC, the operator told me the processing time for I-485 is back to 2002. What does this mean? And does family based application has a processing time line? Also, I see most people in this forum would get approved after interview. Does anyone had same experience like me? Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks all in advance for the help

It depends on your local office processing time. Where was your wife's interview taken place?

My interview at Baltimore BCIS office was done (Sept 2002). I got my approval notice in February 2003 (thanks to house of representative's help) and went for stamping at BCIS office right away.

Don't worry. your wife will get her approval notice because your application was done except security clearance that is needed to be completed. It is very common as everyone has same thing. You can call BCIS for the status or you can talk to Senator or House of Representative.

Hope this helps.

------- I have read that Baltimore has good officers. what was the reason given for not stamping the passport same day of interview?? who is your representative who helped you, I just want know becase in I-485 thread a person got his file transfred and had interview then after interview by baltimore he was told that they have not yet recieved his actual file. he is confused what to do or whome he shold contact ( congressman or senator) If you provide the name of representative he may go to him for help.

the reason why officer couldn't stamp is that she found two A numbers (one student EAD's A# and another 485's A#. so they need to combine two A# numbers and issue a new A number.)

After few months of waiting for my gc approval, I contacted House of Representative of Maryland (Chris Van Hollen). His office contacted me of my gc approval after his office contacted Baltimore office about my case.

Hope this helps.

My interview was done at NYC, I will try to contact the local office for the status. Thanks for your reply, you got me relieved!
