After I-485 Initial Interview - no PD Current

Hi everybody:

I am looking for some feedback about what to expect after the Initial Interview I-485 on a local office. I had my interview back in June 2009, everything went pretty smooth and IO said to wait until my PD becomes current to get my GC.

Based on your experience, Will I need to go to another interview once my PD is current? Is it recommended to do an Infopass to get the passport stamped or just wait for the GC on the mail?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

No. Why would you?

They won't stamp the passport unless you give them a good reason to. The GC usually arrives within 30 days, faster than an Infopass.

Thanks for your prompt response RealCanadian, I was asking on the passport stamp/Infopass as a precaution in case my PD gets caught in retrogression at the Visa Bulletin.

Also, is it possible to receive RFE even when you already have your initial interview cleared?

Thanks,

There is no need for that. At the Infopass, they are not going to give you that stamp if your approval has not been finalized in the system. And once your approval is finalized, your permanent resident status stays active and the card will be sent even if retrogression occurs after that.

If you need to travel after learning of your approval being finalized but before receiving the physical card, you can use Advance Parole.
